Salome question

Is it “just “ a sampler or is there more to it? I own SampleWiz 2 already and was wondering what kind of magic Bram Bos brought to Salome! I d been hearing a lot of great things about it

A sampler with mpe abilities and a nice touch screen keyboard, 1 which has a regular keyboard view, 1 a stacked octave grid view. I did a video on the update that mentioned some of the most useful features.

So basically, a nice, quick to use mpe sampler with a lovely keyboard which allows you to customize to some extent what x and y axis movements will modulate (and being mpe, that is per note modulation, so it's expressive. App store description probably worth a read. There's nothing else quite like Salome, not on iOS, not on desktop either.

Ahh I better check out your video lol I’m watching videos with one of my bandmates via messenger and he’s thinking about Troublemaker but I mentioned Salome and it started another discussion lol

I already told him about your channel so I know what video we’re about to watch next lol

That did it…we’re sold on Salome 😎

  • Yeah Salome is awesome and a very worthy addition. And it can be used to control other synths as well so you get double for the money.

Also regarding Troublemaker, I love Bram and his apps, that one included, but there’s no 303 emulation on iOS better than Pure Acid. It may be the best software clone of any instrument I’ve ever heard. Troublemaker is probably number 2 though and is still a lot of fun!

I own (and love) pure acid … what would be the difference out of curiosity?

As far as the synth itself goes, the difference is mostly in the sound. I think PA sounds closer to the original (very very close). Troublemaker isn’t bad either but it’s just not quite there.

Also with PA you get a bonus drum machine with 606/707/808/909 sounds that you can mix and match as you please. It’s basically a techno/acid/house groovebox

After opening PA for about a year , I just literally learned how to shut off the drums and sequencer last night after posting my previous message. 😂

So basically there’s no upside to Troublemaker if I already own PA?

    Glad I brought this up!

Not necessarily. I had Brams app first so I ended up with both and I don’t regret it. I think Troublemaker is a little easier to work with since it’s simpler. And having the “modded” acid version as a bonus is fun!

I saw a different video (Tim Webb) and I heard some different kind of sounds almost like an FM bass mixed with a 303… yeah I think it might be worth getting as well

The thing with Brams apps is they all sound great, look great and they’re cheap. So it’s hard not to just say screw it and buy them lol

Bram’s my favorite all-around developer (followed closely by Iceworks/Satoshi) as not only is the guy a legend he seems to be a cool dude as well . He always brings the goods

Agreed, he’s likely my favorite as well! Marek (Koala) is high up there too.
