Help picking an app

I probably will get both at one point, but right now I can only pick one. If you had a choice between Outer Space (coming out tomorrow) and the new Quantum Delay from GSDSP. Which one would you get and why? Thanks!!

Comments

  • Is Outer Space so hyped because of nostalgic reasons or because it is really a unique take on delay? I am debating between waiting for it but most videos I have seen about it are comparison between different takes on the same plugin. Anyways, I hope someone can help me understand the difference between the two (quantum and Outer) a bit better in terms of the results each app could have. Thanks again!

  • I've been looking at Outer Space myself simply because it's made by AudioThing and that I've heard good things about it. Not really a solid reason to choose one over the other, but that's my take. 😅

Haha that’s my general feeling, just that the wallet is hurting after Christmas shopping and I wanted to get a little idea on what you guys thought each of this would be better for, etc.

    lol thanks broski!

  • I think it is a very special sound. But why don’t you judge by yourself. Boss last year recreated the original in a pedal. It should sound very similar to it.

    😎👍

  • I don’t get the excitement over the Audiothings delay. I already have a bunch of tape delays. Quantum delay is something a little new and unusual though.

I think a lot of people (myself included) appreciate that AudioThing is making these weird experimental apps but it’s definitely not for everyone so I get that.

    Quantum Delay is awesome though!

  • It’s too early to tell since the AudioThing app isn’t out yet. The hardware (Space Echo) is regarded as one of the best effects ever though and I think it sounds amazing. Even the small IR of it in Springs and the GSI clone.

But both apps are aiming for different things. The Space Echo is a vintage clone that will be good for LoFi reverb and delay and a vintage feeling with an experimental edge. Quantum is new and fresh with tons of modulation and unique LFO implementation. And it’s probably gonna be half the price of the AudioThing app.

Thanks brother!!! You made The Space Echo sound bad ass and Quantum cool as hell.

It sounded great! I think maybe Quantum Delay is more what I am looking for but now I am eager to see more examples of the Space Echo.

I am itching to see if it sounds like it should.

The one in Mixbox and the GSI one don't sound right to me.

Didn’t know the full version of MixBox had one!

I like the GSI app quite a bit but the problem for me is the reverb. The natural saturation and echo sound great but the reverb is a bit harsh and tinny
