Death of a Dandelion

Pianoteq 8, SWAM Euphoium and Trumpet, JazzDrummer x2. The drums are of my own construction. Something I rarely do.

I made this after listening to Sketches of Spain yesterday. I wanted to bend Miles a little more out of shape. I think I did, for better or worse.

Self aggrandizing bump. This track is worth a listen if you like this sorta thing, IMHO.

  • Missed this one. Glad you bumped it up, I would have missed a really good one. I’m really into that more intimate jazz.

  • Thank you @jo92346. I want to go more in this direction for now. It requires my playing a piano part and not the whole thing at once. Happy New Year to come, my friend.

  • The mood brings back memories of In A Silent Way. I like this sort of thing.

  • This sounds like a group of musicians that have learned to play off one another after playing together for years. I think you’ve done a great job with the drum lines here, they feel like they add support when needed but let the other instruments take the spotlight.

Thanks, @Paulieworld i don’t know that track buti’ll check it out.
lol, @MadeofWax, the musicians are rather intimate with each other. I'm glad you like the drum part, that’s the hardest thing for me. I tried to channel my inner @McD .

  • I also have a soft spot for your more sedate jazzy pieces… enjoyed this one.
The Euphonium doesn’t get enough airplay. The area I live in has a brass band contest each year and the local village gives a prize of £40 for the best Euphonium player. Here’s a video of the slightly raucous goings on… there’s a lot of alcohol consumed but the bands come from all over the world and are world class.

  • Well that was bloody lovely, you’re only getting better and better Mike 🙌

  • Really enjoyed this, Mike, glad you bumped it. Like most here, I don't listen to creations much, but that track name called to me. Anyway, the drums - and everything else - sounded fantastic, I thought 🔥 🔥

  • Yeah this one really took me somewhere Mike. Love it! @LinearLineman

  • Sounds like a band! The colour drumming is brilliant and adds hugely to the intimate feel. Love the drama, the sinewy doubled lines and the nods to many influences - not just Gil and Miles but European jazz too. Excellent!

  • Oh, yeah! 🥃🧊🎺🛎️ 🤩
