offload samples to thumb drive without computer

I’m looking to record samples throughout the day and have them save directly to a thumb drive I have at home. how can somebody accomplish this?
Is there a device or process. that can send my samples from audioshare, and have it offload from audioshare to a usb stick, or external hardrive? that way I don’t have to save to a cloud service, or manual plug in.
just looking for a faster way.
any ideas ?

Moving files to storage on a thumb drive is easy. You just need to connect the drive to the device through a USB adapter. Apple official USB 3 adapter is recommended. The drive will show in the files app and you can copy from any other folder to it.

Google "ios usb drive" for lots more.

  • I just want to mention that there are "SanDisk" USB sticks with a USB connector on one end, and a Lightning connector on the other. They're folded like a paper clip, and sort of clip on an iPad or iPhone. I have one and it works fine, shows in Files, as noted. Might be handier for mobile use.

    That's pretty cool.

That’s cool! Thanks for the heads up

It very easy with any usb drive, external hard drive, SSD. I definitely recommend going with Apple products. Either usb adapter or the camera connection kit with the extra power port to keep charging while connected.

To move stuff use the Files app. Open files, and long press whatever then select move. Attached drive will show up in Files app on left hand side. Then select what folder in external drive you want to move it to as your destination. You can move photos and videos from inside the photo app. Zip multiple files to make moving stuff quicker and easier.

Those sandisk drives are cool too, but a little pricey for the amount of storage you get.

  • oh sorry guys. i think. that is what I currently do. with usb stick with dual plugs on it.
I was just brainstorming on a super lazy way to do it. like I get home and it automatically does it while i’m getting a shower or making dinner.
I know it’s ridiculous. just wonder if it’s posssible

The Shortcuts app might have some way to do this.

How are samples named? Is there any chance of duplicate names overwriting older samples on the drive if a straight copy is done? Do you want to Move or Copy the files?

It's actually easy as heck with the Shortcuts app.

    • Create a new Shortcut.
    • Add action Apps > Files > Get Contents of Folder

      • Tap where it says Folder in darkened text
      • Navigate to the folder where the files are stored on the device.
    • Add action Save File to add it below.

      • Tap the blue arrow and disable "Ask Where to Save"
      • Tap after "to" and browse to the Flash Drive and then tap Open.
      • Disable "Overwrite if File Exists" (unless you want to do that)
    • (Optional) Add a Show Alert action if you want a confirmation to pop up when done.

    • Test the shortcut.
    • Name it as appropriate at the top-left. You can also add it to the Home Screen from here.
    • Return to the main Shortcuts app screen.

If you added it to the Home Screen, you can close the Shortcuts app and just tap the icon when you want to run the shortcut.

Unfortunately, you can't select folders in AudioShare because of the way it's implemented. You can from other locations on the device and from iCloud though. There's probably some way to work around this from AudioShare if that's necessary.
