how is that working?
i think it should work as a hold/latch?
but it doesn't...

Currently it's just a temporary switch without a latch function.

Personally I'd love to see an option to 'latch/un-latch' it by swiping down to latch and up to un-latch.
But as always it's up to @LFS and his team to prioritize what features they choose to add to Cubasis :sunglasses:

    Cheers!

    thanks!
i tried it with fingerlab mynth, but mynth seems to have a problem with sustain in general...

    -

i also tried kb1, which has a latch toggle, but kb1 is not working at all.

and i tried xequence keys. works, but has no latch functionality. at least i didn't find one.

and i tried velocity kb. works, has sustain toggle. not working with mynth.

    so far my investigations:)

Sustain pedals and latching are different. Latching suspends sending of note off events.

It is up to an instrument to interpret and use sustain pedal on/off events. While some instruments might treat sustain-on/off like latching, some don't.

Not latch functionality per-se, but if you add Sustain as a controller and leave the ribbon in the default slider mode, you can quickly swipe it up (above mid-point, i.e. 64 or higher) to depress ("latch") the sustain pedal, and swipe it below 64 to "release" it.

EDIT: But I think nobody is really sure what the OP is asking anyway, so maybe my answer does not actually address the problem.

:) no no, very helpful. thanks.

it's just that the synth i wanted to "latch" does not support this in the au version.
standalone has it's own keyboard and a latch toggle.

OK, just to clear it up:

    • some keyboard apps support a "Hold" or "Latch" mode where keys just "stick" when you release them, i.e. they don't turn themselves off until you touch them again. This will work with any synth as a target. Xequence AU | Keys does not currently have such a mode, but will be updated to include the new "Hold" features from Xequence itself very soon.
    • there's a general concept in MIDI of a "Hold" mode, it's called "Sustain". This is sent via CC (controller) 64. You can add a ribbon to Xequence AU | Keys that sends this CC. However, the target synth has to support this CC. Every synth with an even remotely complete MIDI implementation should, but many synths on iOS are unfortunately a bit "MIDI lame" and thus don't. You'd have to check if your target synth supports it. See above.

Not sure which one you meant :)

well, i tend to the first :)
the synth i want to use is suspect to be a bit "midi lame".
at least it doesn't respond to cc 64.

lucky to have the update of xequence keys in sight!
    should bring the solution.

Ha ha! You forgot that your own app has "Gate Mode" for the controller ribbons. No swiping needed. 😉

No I didn't! I originally thought the OP wanted to LATCH THE SUSTAIN PEDAL! Which is only possible with the ribbon in the default mode by swiping it up or down quickly!

  • @rototom - https://patchstorage.com/latch-and-switch/ might be helpful if you have Mozaic.

Whoops. My bad. I misunderstood gate mode. I thought the controller "stuck" where you touched it on the ribbon.
That's what I get for posting before coffee.
