EG Nodes - Quick Start Guide & Tutorial, Plus, How Many Nodes Can We Have in a Project

Here is my first spoken tutorial for EG Nodes.
I ended up going into a fair amount of detail, so I hope you enjoy the video.
Anyway, this should give you an idea if this app is for you or not.
Happy New Year everyone.

  • Thank you Sir Doug!

  • @Robin2 Thank you, and a very Happy New Year to you and yours too👍😊
    Yes, it’s a fab app.

  • @JohnnyGoodyear Thank you Lord Johnny, you are very welcome😊

  • Any eg node users here?
    What is your experience ?

Whats the state, the website doen’t seem very active.
Nothing on the roadmap and the last update a year ago.

Or is it just completely finished?

I like it. I don't use it much any more. There's no real information regarding its future. I wouldn't expect much to change. I do expect it'll be fixed if it breaks. If I had to purchase it again, I don't think I would, but I don't regret having done so in the least.

  • The developer at some point stated that there might be a further update/development coming for EG Nodes. Could be in this very forum, somewhere.

EG Nodes seems to be quite underrated, not sure about how it sold. Could be a reason for the lack of further attention sides the dev. Haven't been touching it in a while either, yet still hoping it's going to be kept alive.

I checked the EG Nodes Discord server. There are unanswered bug reports more than three months old, whereas a year or so ago the developer was active. I wouldn't expect much in the way of development based on that.

  • No he didn’t answer to my email either.
    Looking into apematrix now.

EG Nodes is definitely one of my favourite apps. Works really well and seems like one of the most straight forward and fast ways to put together some music. I use it to sequence iOS apps as well as external hardware.

  • @wim

Well, it is what it is for now — a bunch of APPs with great potential have been fading away over the years. The iOS music market is still a niche, and I am not sure how many devs can make a living from their APPs.

Regardless, EG Nodes can still be used — it's a great musical playground.

  • Am I missing something or can you really only have 3 fx per node? Also is there not multi-out support? Can’t find a way to do sidechain with BLEASS Dragonfly.

Both are correct. Multi-Out was mentioned as planned on the Discord server in 2024, but it never appeared.

  • Yet still I haven’t regretted buying it.
    Very nice app
Hope it gets maintained at least.

I hope @ElliottGarage is doing alright. Definitely not a dev I’d expect to abandon stuff.

I asked him if eg nodes was abandoned,
He replied within a day that it’s not.
    So thats hopefull.

  • EG Nodes is a unique and well-sorted gem of music-making on iPad — underrated IMHO. There have been a few sales for it recently, and I hope the dev is looking for ways to justify further development; it's not dead, per quote. @ElliottGarage

It's one of my favorite APPs, yet some feature updates (especially in the sequencer section — more models/extended generative) and a major overhaul would help keep it relevant. It's one of the best thought-through apps on iOS/iPadOS in terms of interface, immediacy, and workflow. (Re-post from my comment on Facebook)

Multi-audio out would be a great addition, and I'm quite sure that there are more creative ideas in the drawer.

  • Just used EG Nodes yesterday and I was reminded of the great modular workflow it offers. Very easy to use and offers a lot of easily accessible controls for live performance. Glad to see it being discussed and that the dev is engaged. I agree it could use a couple of updates.
