Such a mean spirited developer. I just can’t support these guys. It’s unfortunate because their actual work is pretty solid. I feel their attitude here and towards our group was uncalled for. Just my two cents

    What happened?

The dev was very ill for a long time, suffering from depression alongside it.
Some people have pleasant coping mechanisms, some don’t.
He unfortunately doesn’t have the former and that combined with the
interactions with members of the forum proved to be a disastrous combination.
However I will say this in defence of dev’s at large, dev’s have been facing
increasing aggression and insults online, for instance quite a mature vst developer
recently stopped all development of their plug-ins citing the aforementioned
aggression and foul language which led to damage to his health amongst many other things.
@Michael’s decision to set rules for the Audiobus forum was a good one.
It stopped a lot of the superfluous arguments and at the very least steered
conversations on the forum to more app based and music based conversations.
Sorry @Poppadocrock for hijacking the thread.

    Edit.
    The developer is Tone2.
Here’s a link to what they say on KVRAudio.

  • Generally speaking, I think this "the developer's personality is lacking, so I won't support him/her/then" attitude is self-defeating and misguided. If the dev provides an app, and it does what's advertised, and they don't break promises and keep it updated -- then what should it matter if they are friendly or cranky aF?

If you buy a car or a piece of art from someone, at a fair price, and you're happy with the purchase, would you refuse to do business with them again because they were cranky? You don't know why they have that attitude, and perhaps they're really going through difficulties, but go ahead and refuse -- What do you personally gain? Or are you just trying to effect positive behavior modification on their part for someone else?

The notion of "supporting" a developer so often used here is to me a hazardous attitude. The term suggests you're offering a kind of patronage for someone, when in fact you are simply purchasing a license for a product. And we all "support" Apple, despite their crummy attitude. So why not show a little generosity of spirirt to the little guy too? /rant

I think as a customer, one really does become a "patron" for the developer/seller. Either you like them or don't like them (or their product) and you have the choice to buy or not buy based on any factors which are important to you.

@NeuM: the information is at the beginning of the NAVE app description in the AppStore: "Nave is Waldorf's first synthesizer App development - created by chief engineer and director Stefan Stenzel, NLog mastermind Rolf Wöhrmann and Design Guru Axel Hartmann."

Rolf Wöhrmann exists in the AppStore under the name "tempo rubato", e.g. the NLog Synth PRO app.

@rs2000: NAVE as AUv3 is also my dream :) NLog Synth PRO got AUv3 support 2 years ago, so maybe there is a chance for NAVE too.

Are you sure it wasn't Analog Matt? I thought he had posted something online confirming he was working on his first non-sample based synth emulating the Nave?

He’s working on a clone of the Nord Lead, a hardware synth. Not Nave.

I just watched Doug demoes, it sounds fantastic, and CPU usage is miniscule. That's the sign of perfect coding optimization.
