Find That Sound, audio plugin discovery app iOS.

Hey people! I've been working on an audio plugin search app for iOS. I found using the iOS App Store search functionality a pain for finding music production apps. Was messing around with LLM vector embeddings and thought I could try to make a more user friendly semantic search to find interesting AUv3 apps that are out there. So you can be a bit more vague with your searches, like searching by genre or artist, or just random words. There is a database of 1000+ AUv3 apps, I'll keep updating it every quarter or half year as new stuff comes out. The iOS database is free to use, and there is an in app purchase to access the search of 6000+ desktop apps as well if you'd like to support me. Anyways hope you find it useful, and find that sound your looking for :D!

  • Just downloaded it. I’ll let you know.

  • Nice! Already digging this. Way better than app store search.

Is the IAP to unlock info about whether the AU also runs on the Mac?

  • Oh this is cool and will definitely be useful. The App Store search is such a PITA at times

I don't want to detract from this new app, which sounds interesting. But I abandoned the App Store search years ago. I use the search in appsliced, which is very reliable, and usually takes me straight to what I want.

  • I like this app.

  • I hit search but don’t seem to get any results or any indication it is searching?

  • I tapped the word search and got results instantly.

    Cool app! Wow, very nice

  • Search engines for special interests is way overdue. Good move.

  • Great app! I’d happily pay for an IAP in the future to be able to filter results on device compatibility, AUv3 plugin, etc. Cheers!

  • Just wanted to say I throughly enjoy the style of the app and the font choices. Cheers!

Hey! The IAP is for unlocking desktop search, over a separate database of AU/VST win and mac plugins. But its a good shout about having info on iOS -> Mac compatibility.

Hey! Thanks! I'm investigating this bug, a few peeps have had it. Might be a cpu or ram resource limitation on the device, its fairly hefty.

Yeah potentially this search won't work if your Apple device doesn't have a Neural Engine on the chip. It does a lot of the heavy lifting machine learning wise, I'll put in a warning or I might have to boost to iOS 17 to only target stuff that does have one.

OK, thanks. I am on an iPad Pro (10/5) on iOS 16.7

Agree, AUv3 would be great. Would it be possible to add this filter to the search, @tothepoweroftom?

Thanks for making this and keeping the base version free, very helpful.

The one suggestion I have would be to allow for marking apps as “owned”. Bonus points for scanning automatically, but even doing it manually would be fine.

This would really help both the:

“show me the shimmer reverbs I own so I can pick one to use”

    and

“show me shimmer reverbs I don’t own because I’m interested in buying a new one”

    use cases.
