How to control some aspects of an AUv3 with widget
I have searched for this, but couldn't find it anywhere. Apologies if this has been covered already and I missed it.
I want to create some widgets on a canvas to control some AUv3 effects (such as a slider, dial, or XY Pad). Also, can I use that control a specific part of the AUv3 effect app? For example, could I control the "Intensity" dial of Outer Space 2 app by AudioThing with a widget dial?
Comments
Absolutely!
Under Actions for the widget, look for Adjust Effect Parameter for an FX, Adjust Audio Unit Parameter for an instrument (audio source), or Adjust MIDI AU Parameter for a Midi FX. You’ll see any loaded apps and then a list of their parameters.
Thank you. That was helpful. I went in and found those and wow - there are so many things that can be customized. This app continuously surprises me.
If you haven't already gone through the manual, there is a lot to be learned there even though some sections are not complete.
There are also some great tutorials from John Paul and Sound For More that expose a lot of features that you might otherwise miss.
Yes - thank you. I have gone through the series by John Paul - it was excellent and very condensed. His video tutorials did not cover using effects like I was asking, however. I have used the manual for a few things, but I guess I learn better from step-by-step, and the manual is mostly just titles and definitions of things at this point. I understand it is a work in progress, however. I'm constantly blown away by this app! I mean, I've seen it around for a while, but I guess I just assumed it was like the Live Loops in GarageBand. I had no idea this would replace everything for me. I don't even touch other DAWs or AUM anymore - no need. The developer must be a workaholic - how could you put so much into something and have it work so well! Chef's kiss!
