Recording MIDI events triggered in an AUv3 instrument into LogicPro

I just downloaded iFretless Guitar. It has a fantastic expressive UI, but when I use it as plugin in LogicPro the MIDI events I’m triggering on the UI are not being recorded.
Cubasis records the events with no problem.
Any idea how to record the midi events generated in an AUv3 into LogicPro? I can’t find any hints in the help.

I will not be buying every single app released this year just to check their functionality :sunglasses:

Hi Samu, it’s an answer to my question or you just posted it in a wrong thread?

    It's the correct thread...

I have no issues recording midi from various AUv3's UI (GeoShred as one example) into LogicPro for iPad so it's something the developer of the app in question has to take a look at and properly implement. (Cubasis 'cheats' in some cases to cover for sloppy AUv3 implementation).

As iFretless Guitar is fairly new AUv3 (and I don't have) so I can not test it's functionality :)

I thought it’s an LP issue because it works perfectly in cubasis, furthermore when I tap a string on the UI the incoming midi event indicator is lit:

So it seems it receives some sort of midi event from iFretless Guitar, but does not record it on the timeline…
Anyway I’ll contact the developer as you suggested.

It's most likely a similar 'issue' that some AUv3's have when it comes to recording automation using the plug-ins UI.
Apparently midi-recording works in GarageBand but it's definitely something the developer should have a look at...

    Cheers!

  • I can tell you that iFretless Bass has issues too. MIDI events are only recorded using LP’s play surfaces. There are other strange things like the strings rolling like a slot machine when you resize the window. So it’s likely there are problems across multiple programs from this developer.
