Loopy Pro & Mac Mainstage Bi-Directional Midi
I have been trying to get Loopy Pro and Mainstage on Mac working a bit better together. I have knobs and sliders in Loopy controlling CC's in various plugins in Mainstage. No issues here and working as expected.
What I would like to do is have the knobs and sliders in Loopy respond to Mainstage. So if I change a value in Mainstage the widget responds in Loopy. Or if I change a patch in Mainstage Loopy widgets update to the values saved with the patch.
I am also using Bluetooth Midi but I don't think that matters as I think it should support bi-directional connections.
It's not a big deal as I can get along without but it would just make my setup a little bit sweeter. Just wondering if anyone else has done this successfully or has any ideas?
I'm also a bit of a novice with midi but I can usually work it out through trial and error

Have you midi learned in loopy the cc’s from MainStage?
Does Mainstage support this type of MIDI feedback? It's a pretty rare feature. Generally, MIDI Learn or MIDI mapping is as good as it gets.
I've made a bit of progress, I was just sending the CC but I have tried midi learn from Loopy and it almost works. The fader kinda jumps about up and down. I will have a look at it later but I'm wondering if I have something double mapped somewhere. I will probably delete all my mappings and start again 1 by 1
In Loopy, see what happens if you turn Feedback to MainStage off in control settings. MainStage might be misinterpreting it.
I got it working. There might be a better way to do it but I'll detail my steps for anyone else that might want this and also as a gentle reminder to myself when I forget the process in a week or so.
I created the widgets in both Loopy and MainStage.
In MainStage Layout screen I clicked on the widget and changed midi port to my bluetooth iPad.
I also added the BT iPad in the send value field.
I left midi through to automatic and type as absolute.
I chose the required midi channel and cc number.
In the MainStage edit panel I clicked the widget and made sure that it was set to same as input.
In Loopy Pro Midi Learn screen I chose the widget and manually added the setting as you can't move the controller in the layout screen in MainStage. This was new to me but is done by clicking the listening for events button, choosing the device and then the channel and cc number, I also set this to continuous.
Both widgets are now in sync with each other.
