iPad / external display / keyboard and mouse?

edited January 8 in Other

I’m wondering if any of you are using an external display with your iPad? I tried it tonight with my portable external monitor and it looks great. I’m just wondering about getting a good mouse or keyboard for it. Any recommendations? Thx

  • I'm thinking the same thing as you, but there are still situations where the mouse doesn't respond like a finger and I'm forced to perform certain actions directly on the iPad. Especially swiping.

It's somewhat cool and also quite weird. I think for music making it defeats the "hands-on" experience of an iPad.
It's cool though probably for other work-related tasks. Once the apps can allow the movement of instruments from one monitor to another, it will be more practical. For now, it's quite restrictive.

  • I prefer to use a trackpad rather than a mouse. If I'm typing I set it next time the keyboard. If I'm using a MIDI controller it sits next to that. I never considered using a trackpad for music until I saw Dom Sigalas use one. Now it's a staple part of the studio setup.

  • I will have to Google his name. Interesting observation. I think it all takes what you get used to. Which trackpad do you use? Apple?

Since years, I use Bluetooth keyboard and mouse with my iPad 12.9 2nd gen.
As this is Lightning only, I never connected an external display.
    But it works fine without!

    Can recommend...

I have a 11 inch iPad, but sometimes wish I had gotten the 12. Thanks, I may have to try this more often. I guess it's more like a laptop hybrid.
