Riffler Version for Drums
hey guys,
is there something like Riffler (auv3 guitar riff sequencer/standalone)
but for drums?
running synced as au in cubasis/lp4 etc?
Comments
Check out Playbeat 3 by Audiomodern. Might be just the thing you're looking for with its randomization abilities.
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/playbeat-3/id1591731264
is it giving me traditional good drum grooves with excellent drum (acoustic) sounds? and a midi out as au ?
asking mainly users of riffler maybe.
and its riffler, not riffer.
Its a sampler and sequencer so you could load it with acoustic samples and get results, but if you're looking for more traditional stuff theres probably better options.
The Lumbeat apps are great but not auv3 (yet).
yep, thats my point of research also.
how can i ask jonathan bell for a drum version? is he active here? 😀
Acoustic drums are definitely the biggest omission when it comes to the iOS music making scene. For now your best bet would be pairing a generative sequencer with AudioLayer loaded with acoustic multisamples.
DrumPerfectPro and DrumJam are my two top apps for acoustic drums.
I don’t have Playbeat but maybe you could use it as a midi generator for Beathawk Accoustic drums.
There is a multisampled kit there, but the kick is inexplicably weak, a few dB below the rest of the kit. You may want to bring the rest of the levels down and then boost it all.
Maybe OCTACHRON MIDI Drum Sequencer?
It has a random button that can generate interesting stuff.

Demo:
I use Hammerhead chance function to create some random fills .
DrumComputer also has an excellent sequencer (including random fills) and can be loaded as a MIDI FX to drive other AUv3s.
Garage Band. As far as I remember you can generate and then alter electronic beats. Not sure about acoustic.
I’m currently in the process of making something along those lines in Drambo. It’s already working well but I need to tidy it up before posting. There basically is a slider that at the minimum has silence and as it’s moved up it starts generating beats. It will require you to put in your own sounds though.
I don’t have riffler so ignore me if it’s not what you’re after.
Can DrumComputer randomize pattern by itself periodically after some (4/8/16) beats like Lumbeat apps can? Riffler has a feature for that: "Endless mode".
I think so, take a look at the "Remix" feature in the manual: https://downloads.sugar-bytes.de/manuals/DrumComputer.pdf

its not so easy to get a good random drumfill for example.
the sequencer and samples in riffler work together in a intelligent way, just the way guitar riffs and progressions work.
having just a random sequencer won't get you there, even if its super complex.
i can recommend riffler for everyone looking for inspiration , guitar riffs, progressions and much more.
and having that technology under the hood, a riffler like drum au would be killer.
@unlink Thanks!![:wink: :wink:](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
@Birdpie I'm also hope for Riffler Strum
Anyone here still using Riffer (not Riffler)?
I've used multiple instances of it for randomizing drum patterns too.
Hello!
I'd love to create a Riffler for drums (Drummler!) but I'm not a drummer and don't have much in-depth knowledge about drumming. Unfortunately I think it would likely end up being a really bad version of Garageband's Drummer!
I've been really busy so don't generally don't spend much time reading social media, etc. but I always reply to my emails so that's the best way to get hold of me.
If anybody is interested what I've been working on:
Bug fixes for Riffler and Riffler Flow.
MIDI input for Riffler and Riffler Flow.
Sharing data between difference instances of Riffler and Riffler Flow when loaded as a plugin inside a DAW.
Riffler Bass!
Hopefully everything will be finished this month.
Thanks,
Jon
Riffler bass sounds fun, but only if it links to Riffler. (Like iBassist and his drum apps)
Thank you @jon_bell , I like your roadmap![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
Riffler Bass would be an instabuy.
Not just random, it also has a phenomenal mutate feature which adds in hits, similar to how Bram Bos apps have the mutate feature. Also if you adjust the bars on the steps not being used, the mutation hits that are played will respond to the settings you have under any unused steps.
Thats exciting @jon_bell super pumped to see some of those things unfold. Cheers.
I didn't know that.
I think I have too many apps and I don't know them well enough.
that would be a extra add on for me.
no problem with programming individual plugins.
Hello Jon, I know from your "News" that your priority now is the desktop version of Riffler. Can you at least guess when we can expect MIDI input functionality for the iOS version? Thanks.
