Nice effects for Kalimba
So I gifted my so a Hokema Electro kalimba which has a pickup with the intend she and I could play around with audio effects on iOS
So far I shown her Eos 2 which she really likes. She has no music making background so for starters I’d like to focus on single apps. Do you have recommendations for nice effects, other reverbs perhaps, or delays?
If we venture so far as too combine effects, which host do you recommend as the easiest to understand and explain?
Ideally recommendations should work on iPhone or even be optimized for it.
I personally eyed at the lottie canto colour palette Kalimba which has 8 onboard effects for a long time so eventually I’d like to copy that instrument on iOS…

I'd also try EQing the sound and adding different impulse responses from acoustic instruments.
It kind of depends where you want to take things, so ignore my suggestions if they don’t fit your music. I’m coming from an ambient/experimental direction.
I’ve used the following with a kalimba and other short, plucky/tappy sounds and got good results. All of them are available on iPhone as well as iPad.
You can do amazing textural things with Rymdigare.
Blackhole is a gorgeous sounding reverb (hot tip: Eventide have regular sales, often 50% off).
Gauss works well as a looper (but if you want precise live looping type timing something else may be better), but you can also use it as a very long delay, which can be fun. Multiple instances work well, too.
Granular processing can work well with this kind of sound, and for processing/effect use Fluss would be top of my list, though iDensity is also a favourite (and cheaper, I think - not that Fluss is madly expensive).
As for hosts: AUM. Exceptionally easy audio routing, ideal for combining effects, and can record if you find something you want to keep. I know people criticise its display on a phone (only one channel, and portrait only), but with a single instrument that should be less of a problem anyway, and if you’re experimenting with combining effects and reordering etc it’s built for the job.
I can recommend Drambo and Nembrini bass driver , and of course antithetical you like. These two are very strong for my kalimba usage.
Maybe start with Apple's free GarageBand?
Designed to work on the phone it will give you lots of instruments and FX along with Apple's easy-to-use design. And lots of online tutorials to help you get started.

The Nembrini version of a Roland Space Echo called the “501 Chorus Echo” adds some nice complexity and enriches the tone too. It’s currently $8.
