Anyone having problems with Lumbeat apps, Ableton link and AUM?

I'm having some problems getting Lumbeat apps such as Hip Hop Drummer, to work properly with AUM with Ableton link enabled. I've used it before successfully, but at the moment, it is not working. I can get the Lumbeat apps to work and sync with other Ableton Link enabled apps such as Groovebox, DrumJam, and others. I can get AUM to sync up with those apps as well. For example, when I open Hip Hop Drummer (or Jazz or Rock drummer) as a standalone app, and launch AUM, Ableton link shows connected to one peer, but when I hit play on Hip Hop Drummer, it does not play. As soon as I close AUM, it plays. I've used Ableton link quite a bit, so I don't believe I'm doing something wrong, but I'm open to any suggestions.

Comments

  • Maybe hit Play in AUM, when it's connected via Link? Some sort of master/slave thing?

  • All the drummer apps are working fine for me if I follow those steps. (I don't have HipHop Drummer though).
Maybe try a reboot if you haven't already?

  • Thanks. I hit play in AUM and it will play the synced modules in AUM, but it will not trigger the Lumbeat drummers (Rock, Jazz). I also rebooted the iPad too and then tried a bunch of tests - same result. I'll put together a screen recording and show the configuration and repro it.

I can't reproduce with Rock Drummer. Works fine here.

Just on a hunch ... maybe check device settings > Rock DM to be sure that "Local Network" permissions are on.

Thanks all. I found the problem after going through the settings in preparation for the demo. AUM buffer size was set to 2048, due to a problem that I had previously with a version of Cantoria that stuttered until it was increased to that value (I believe it was updated to resolve that), and I never changed it back. With a setting of 256, everything works normally. I found an AB forum link mentioning the same thing:

Edit: Summary: Lumbeat drummer apps don't work well with 2048 buffer size in AUM when using Ableton Link.
