The app looks like a great a compliment, project back up etc looks simple
    Thanks for posting

  • Ops just looked again at title
399 is that dollars or pounds?

  • Either way.
100 more than the teenage engineering unit I was saving up for
This might be better for me, for the extra money

  • The app is already in the App Store

  • Don’t know why anyone would buy this when you can buy the OP1 field at 4 times the price.

Yeah. Hahaha. Preordered mine yesterday. It looks sweeeeet.
I love changing the patterns with a simple knob twist!
PS. Op1 field costs x5 times more. And opz 100$ more.

    Thank you brother.
@Gdub all depends on the quality of the buttons. Never owned a piece of hardware from Yamaha, so let's see...

Highly "inspired" by OPZ ;-) Let's put it this way. Including using iPad as external touch screen with video visualisations synced with music.

I bet the developer has included all Visualizer textures in uncompressed format.
And then loading all into RAM at once ☠️

Mostly from 3D models/Visualizer graphics I’d imagine. You can go to town building visualizer scenes in the app, but that’s about the only thing it’s good for without the device connected.

At least you can design synth patches on the OP1 without needing an editor app. I’ve waited years for an affordable
OP1 alternative but I guess it’s not meant to be.

Me too, and I've tried several other apps in various combinations for a quick brain-to-audio workflow, and I finally caved and financed an OP-1 Field through Zzounds.

Though I love my OP-1 Field and thinkTeenage Engineering is a decent company (they're rather quick to respond to support requests from my dealings with them), I cannot pass up saying...

You can also call it electribe 2 without a screen;)

I saw this earlier and at first I thought it was super cool that they managed to make a design that seems pretty simple and straightforward without needing a screen. Then I saw that you have to have the companion app to do deep sound design and that was a bit of a bummer to be honest. However I do wonder how much mileage you can get out of the 2000 plus presets just tweaking the parameters available on the device itself. Anyone who gets this, please report back on that because honestly it looks super appealing without the app.

Just expressed my personal feeling from this gear. Based on my observation it takes way too much "inspiration" from OPZ and i don't see on market atm any other product soo much similiar to OPZ concept. That's all.

It doesn't remind me Electribe 2 neither MC101 in any way, they are completely different concepts . At the end it doesn't remind you them too, so this is very much irrelevant example

  • I’m sure it’ll be a fun box to play with. I really like having something like this as a diversion from screens and other distractions. I think I’ll stick to the Circuit for that job personally. Whilst it looks like it will be a pretty comprehensive and fun Groovebox I’m not a massive fan of Yamaha sounds.

I had an FB-01 sound module as one of my first ever synths. Not sure I found a single sound in it at the time that I liked. I should see if it’s still in my loft. Might be worth sampling today for laughs — it has that bass sound that was on everything in the late 80s.
