Requirements for low monitoring latency?
Being new to tracking vocals, this has given me a major headache; wanting to hear more than stock reverb and sounding cool while recording. I get that some plugins bring inherent latency, like limiters and pitch shifters. Ideally we want to have both those live monitored, along with eq, comp, de-esser and some creative fx, if possible . My question is: would better hardware specs help? Do we need dedicated stuff like the TC Helicon things?
Like if someone has a MBP, is there much latency on a vocal chain with the pitch shifter -3 and just master room and delay? There is too much on my ancient MB, totally unusable compared to my SP404MKII.
Thanks!
