Mozaic Script to Re-Map Drum Maps between Apps “Drum Re-Mapper”

McDMcD
edited January 19 in General App Discussion

This script came out of the request to map Hammerhead’s output to Korg’s Gladstone Gadget.
Rather than just create the re-amping I made a script that captures incoming notes and displays plays them on the Top Row of Knobs and uses those knobs to adjust volumes.

Then the bottom row let’s you dial in the new output Note.

Using the upper row volumes you can turn off other drums and really dial in a new Bass, Snare or Hi-hat and slowly build a custom re-mapping that suits your own tastes.

I found that using Hammerhead to create patterns and disregarding the specific Hammerhead drums can allow you to build beats that have the added volume levels that characterize the LumBeats patterns with softer Notes on the snare mixed with a strong Snare backbeat.

I hope you find good uses… it was a very interesting challenge. I’m going to look into the drum maps that
@SevenSystems has built into Xequence 2.

Feel free to use them, they're in JSON format and I think they're dropped into the Documents folder on install.

  • I think I need to look for commonalities in the drum maps.

Thanks for giving it a run.

  • @McD Thanks again, this works really nicely. Beats scrolling through notelists or looking at a midi monitor to find out which notes are triggered.

Does the top row of knobs set a fixed velocity? If so, would you consider an option to turn that off and let the original velocities though? Or maybe even make the top row scale the original velocities?

  • @tyslothrop1 I updated the script to version 1.4.

    https://patchstorage.com/drum-re-mapper/

The incoming velocities are saved with the notes. The knobs will show the velocity on a 1,127 scale.

After assigning output notes the upper knobs can change output velocity values of the output. This proved helpful to turn notes down so you can identify notes you would like to fine tune for output note or velocity.

  • Thanks for this McD!

Fun to see the list of apps. I actually did the Reason map for X2 in an early interaction with it (knowing nothing about everything iOS, 2019 maybe)

  • Something I don’t understand here. When I load the script, the main knob area is taken up by the app description, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to dismiss it. Then I’m not sure how to load available maps, or even where they might be.

Hi. You just need to "follow the instructions"; hit Play in your host. Let the MIDI source send its notes for the different instruments, and adjust the mapping knobs to send the proper notes to the destination instrument. You can view the Code to see some mappings for different apps.

  • Ah! I see. Thanks.
