Well this is exciting - just discovered Soft Drummer runs in MacOS...

So I have just setup my brand new mac mini (M2 Pro) and as part of an exploratory task I came across apps (via Game Centre -then MacOS Store) and in the list was iPad apps - and Lumbeat apps were listed, so I thought I'd just try a download of Soft Drummer, and it works woohoo!!!
There was no mention of it being not tested or compatible as quite a few other apps did, so yeah....early days, this is very exciting!!

  • Wow! I'll have to check this out. I've stopped using the Lumbeat apps on iPad. Although I like them, they didn't fit my workflow. This is interesting, thanks for posting.

  • All the Lumbeat drummers (and iBassist) work on M1/M2 Macs, except for Funk Drummer. Hoping an update will make it work.

I'm assuming you can't use the apps as plugins in a DAW. (?)

If that's the case, it might be worth taking a look at Blackhole, an audio driver that enables routing audio between standalone apps. It's useful for a lot of things on MacOS.

Thanks wim, have not got that far yet - Using Reaper so not sure if it can or cannot but will post back when I try it.

  • I have a lot of iPad apps installed on my M1 Macbook Pro.

I have regular backed up .ipa files from my iPads thru the years so I can test different versions of music apps on Mac.

Often new updates disables this great features - I have used iMazing app on Mac to backup apps from my iPads…
