Heritage Audio i73 Pro Series: USB-C Audio Interfaces with 73-style Preamps

Pretty cool! One of the studios I work out of has a few Heritage Audio 1073 preamps and a Baby RAM monitor controller. I’ve been impressed with the build quality and sound (been using them for a few years). They’re definitely not vintage Neve’s but, the average person certainly wouldn’t know. Especially not in a mix. Hopefully these are of the same ilk.

  • I’d rather have the preamps and separate from the interface Those preamps should last a lifetime. An interface’s life is potentially quite short. Drivers/dsp etc need maintenance. It won’t be long relatively speaking before the software kills the interface. The preamps aren’t held back by software.

^^^ absolutely this! Why would you tie premium preamps which will essentially last forever to a limited life boat anchor? Maybe if a single box is compelling for an assumed short lifespan? To be fair class compliance does mitigate the driver lifespan issue.

Also, is a 1073 the right preamp for everything?
