  • Dang the pics won't download but I'm sure someone will post them soon.

  • Could be a nice device to connect to an iPad :) problem is I would need a red iPad!

Wouldn’t that be redundant though? I pads already got a sampler and good playback engines..(Cubasis 3.6. Koala, etc)…

  • Hopefully it will get the WiFi and Bluetooth that the One + has.

The cream though would be built in power ! But our doubt we get that will have to see.

For myself it's about not only adding the physical control elements, but more of the same. iPads are great because they have a lot of software ability, but all that is accessible through one touch screen! It's like a keyboard player having more than one keyboard, even when one of his keyboards may be able to do everything the others can: the ability to interface with them simultaneously!

Take my SP404mk2 - not only does it act as an audio and midi interface and give some physical pads, it makes the iPad a source for sounds and gives two playing surfaces. So, it comes down to how you personally make music. I jam out ideas and the more playing and control surfaces I have during that process the better. Also im a big believer in not having all my eggs in one basket, as the saying goes.

  • Great points there, @Fruitbat1919 !!

  • A small sampler keyboard is interesting. They just need add a wavetable synth to it and i'd be interested.

They’ve got a ton of synths already available for it. I don’t know specifically if there’s a wave table synth but there’s definitely very cool synths in general.

which sound horrible compares to <5+year older iOS synths (and the paid new synths are expensive and meh )
plus the sampler engine is ancient

  • Any pricetag on this yet??

Yeah not all of them are great but I really like Hype and Fabric, to each their own I guess 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, hoping for some improvements in this regard. They are slowing getting there.

Does the Akai machines have a fully laminated (like most ipads) touch screen already? I really disliked working with the cheep looking, deeply seated under the glass, moderately responsive touch screen on the MPC One

  • I’m personally more into the 404 workflow but I’m sure this will sell like crazy. Looks cool! I’d I had unlimited funds and storage I’d buy it but I can’t justify it now.

  • Holy Open Labs Miko re-incarnated Batman!

  • Damn I remember when that came out.

same screen on all series, it's not so bad ,we are spoiled with our ipads , but the MPCs have knobs and buttons and there is no much need messing with the touch screen

I demo Fabric , descent sounds ,very slow loading (no disk streaming) but for the price didn't worth buying
Hybrid was ok-ish when disabling effects , but I guess it's very subjective

Come up against my black lion modded unit with your iPad…
Hahahaha it will be a ridiculous loss for you to suffer against my “inferior” MPC
    I also got a force…

More plugs will be coming, I am sure. It’s a matter of opinion on the whole MPC plug in vs computer plug in business. IMHO.

But…I’ve been around a while, so I know things like getting power packs rebuilt and getting components upgrades… a lot of people don’t. You can do a lot for most gear just by having the power packs rebuilt. There’s a difference in high grade circuitry my friends. Can’t really do much with an iPad in that regard. One of my best friends is an electronics professional…best guy at the studio!

  • @Korakios the screen is not so bad but it could be better ;)
As apparently Akai is having a similar business model as apple = they sell hardware as a base and software on top, I think it would be the best to make hardware as good as possible by introducng a fully laminated screen for example.
Sequencing, editing single notes on MPC touch screen is not fun. I have even bought a stylus but it didn't help too much. The screen simply needs to be improved. If they would improve the screen for sure more people would buy their devices. They use the same screen in many devices...

  • That’s one fugly keyboard 🤮.
Personal opinion I know but I don’t like the colour or the design, that off centre screen just looks wrong to me.

If you’re righthanded then I can’t see any problem with the screen.
But, 5% of the world population is lefthanded, and then there’s some inconvenience…

    Any leaked pricetag yet?

  • It'd be better if the pads were on the right. That would be better for right handers actually. That's bugged me about all the new MPCs

If you're left-handed, just turn it upside down... like Jimi Hendrix. ;)

My mpc has a laminated screen. Never took the screen protector that it was shipped with off. If you look on YouTube you’ll see lots of people have left it on it works perfectly. You’re right about sequencing notes on the screen though, not fun. But I didn’t get it to sequence notes on a touch screen so that’s ok with me. But yeah their business model is ....meh. Like they’re more worried about selling plugins than giving the user full control of the overdub button.
