MIDI in AUM: distinguish 2 identical devices (remap one to another note)

Hello 🙂

I have a DK Sense kit: https://www.amazon.com/DK-Sense-Kit-DrumKnee-app/dp/B089561RTS

Both devices send exactly the same MIDI data (same note on same channel). But I want to trigger two different effects (a kick and a snare) in an AUv3 plugin (Loopy Pro).

What's the easiest way to remap one of the two devices to another note or channel? I hoped that the MIDI routing of AUM allows that easily with its "Transpose" feature, but this happens on the receiver, not on the sender (which would transpose BOTH device's signal, and it would result again in the same note).

I then tried to send one device's signal first to "AUM virtual", transpose it there, and then send it to Loopy Pro. But this doesn't seem to work that way.

One way to do it is to use Mozaic, but maybe there's a simpler AUM-only solution?

Thank you.

You could try creating two midi busses in aum and do the transforming there.
Double tap them in the midi matrix.

  • Just mentioning. What you tried with AUM Source and AUM Destination is not a loopback. Those are two different external virtual MIDI ports published by AUM. Other apps can connect to them.

Btw, if you aren’t using AUM features. Loopy Pro offers, you might consider hosting in Loopy Pro. It might simplify the routing for you.

    Thank you, that works! 👍

    Good to know!

I'm only using Loopy Pro at this time to have two simple "One shots" that I can trigger via MIDI. Totally over-engineered, I know. Maybe you know another (simpler) app where I can create "One shots"?
