Is there an app or website that I can use to collaborate with some friends on a project?

Now really sure where to put this so put this here.

We want to work remotely on tracks. What are my options? Something preferable free.

  • Endlesss has a pretty generous free tier (with compressed audio) and is available for iOS, windows and Mac. Doesn't have a timeline, though.

Used to be a site which was specifically focused on getting musicians together to collaborate on songs. It was called "iCompositions.com" and unfortunately it went under after the administrator was unable to continue with the site. After that place went under, I came here. It was a great place to find others to work on pieces together. I engineered or played on lots of pieces with other people. More of that kind of collaborative environment is exactly what is needed here. That group moved to Facebook if you're interested: https://www.facebook.com/groups/icompositions (I am not on Facebook and I never will be.)

Endlesss is great. I don't use it too much these days but it can be a fantastic experience, particularly with a few people online at the same time.

  • Songtree is a nice option too

  • Bandlab is a very nice DAW in a browser. If your collaborators all have logins to the same account....

Does their app work differently than the browser or something? I know it’s hit or miss whether a web based DAW will work with safari on iOS so OP may be better off to consider the app if it still has that feature. I have the app and it’s great and powerful (and free!) but I’ve never tried that feature.

I only very shortly dabbled with it for a little bit, 3 years ago, but I think you could invite other people to your projects, so probably not necessary to share the same login. Although maybe that changed.

I’ve only used it on pc, not iPad.
