  • Doesn't appear in the list when I click "IAP shop" from within the app (?) Maybe it's not landed in UK yet?

Update Tera Pro first. It showed up for me after doing that (I’m in the UK too)

    👍🏼

  • It's pretty great, but this one especially illustrates the need for this synth to have a built in Limiter in the chain. A lot of these new patches in Tera Pro under the RingZ category are WAY, WAY TOO LOUD and will practically blow up a speaker if you're not careful. Please @VirSyn, ADD A LIMITER to this thing.

Agreed. I do a lot of tinkering and patch making in standalone mode so it’s always nice when a synth has a built in limiter so I can make patches without having to go into AUM to set something up every time.

  • If anyone wants to hear a few presets I created

  • Here is my video for the RingZ module.
I go through the patches, makes some tweaks etc, and build up a full track with it in Loopy Pro.

  • Man this sounds amazing. I really need to properly dive in and learn the UI to this. Love every Virsyn app I own (and I own almost all of them) but this is the one I that I haven’t taken the time to really get to know it. Gotta change that.

  • All three videos of the Rings sounds interesting, thank you all!

    Beautiful. Sold!

  • How are people liking it compared to StringLab?

I like it, but as mentioned previously, Tera Pro seriously needs to have a limiter. There are a number of patches which are dangerously loud and that should not be.

I like that Toneboosters has a limiter built into Flowtones.

+1 I'd strongly recommend using it e.g. in AUM etc with a limiter after, especially when creating patches with the randomiser.

Of course if one uses AUM (I don't), but adding one to the synth itself would be the best solution.

  • Yeah a built in limiter would be really helpful for this one. I prefer to create patches for it in standalone and my ears have been blasted a few times with it

It would but while we wait for that ... :)

    Same here.

  • I usually use AUM to sample from a synth direct into Koala, and I always put a limiter before Koala in the effects chain for volume control. I also usually build my patches from scratch per project. 😉 I'll finally have free time tomorrow to muck about with the new Rings IAP! I'm excited.

  • Wow. Another great release this week (Auto Fills being the other).

    Love it.

StringLab is great, but doesn’t really let you modulate things that much. The Rings IAP lets you go crazy within Tera Pro, and having it here also makes possible patches combining this with with FM, the waveshaper and whatnot, which opens up all kind of possibilities for crazy patches. Also it is very good for gongs and bell-like sounds.

Basicaly: It’s wonderful, and makes Tera Pro even more wonderful!

I tested RingZ briefly today. On the first, I love “Input”, “input modulation” and “structure” options the most. Especially when you input RingZ to itself. ;) It’s undoubtedly a great addition to the Tera Pro.

Also, I lost one good patch because of the ambiguous preset saving system, and there is no undo to save situation.

  • @catbox @Luxthor i went ahead and bought and yes it’s great! On first play through im preferring it over Stringlab so far.

I almost bought StringLab a while back but im glad I didn’t . I was gifted an Apple gift card and I got Ringz and WOW . If anyone is on the fence cause they already have LaPlace , well, you can do SO much more than “just” Karplus-Strong type sounds. Physical Modeling doesn’t even begin to scrape the surface of what you have with this especially if you have the other IAPs. I made some of the coolest most wtf sounds I’ve ever done so far , and I’m excited about the possibilities

The way many folks feel about Drambo here…that’s the way I feel about Tera Pro

Loving the RingZ IAP ... it's a sonic playground whose output keeps surprising me. Try feeding BrainZ into RingZ as an Input Mod and it goes way off the planet!

Unfortunately this patch I'm working on, which combines BrainZ and RingZ seems to be a bit of a battery destroyer, and even with my iPad plugged in and charging, the battery percentage still drops (which no other synth does). It is an old iPad, but it's eating battery like nothing else, even when CPU in AUM is hovering around 40%, so it's not maxing out DSP.

So it may be something to do with screen redrawing, as battery drop tends to be more about graphical activity than DSP. I'll test it with the GUI closed and see if that makes a difference. I noticed a similar pattern with Tera Pro before RingZ so I'm guessing it's probably not to do with that IAP particularly.

Yep every once in a while I buy an app and immediately get that feeling that it’s gonna become one of my favorites and this IAP feels that way. I can already tell I’m gonna be using this A LOT.

Have you gotten in touch with the dev yet? Luckily I haven’t had a major issue with that (yet lol)

  • It was instabuy, then I went into it and briefed the presets…oh wow, gonna be 🔥 fire

Tera-pro is in my top 5 iOS/ipad synths

  • If high cpu, reduce polyphony in settings.

I have all iap. I like the sounds. I don’t find the interface intuitive. Just like brainz, we are pressing little button specs when there is loads of empty space for no reason. It’s annoying. And the little plus signs , i thought i had dirt on my screen.

And the fx section is on a completely different page as always. I knew that wouldn’t change but thats a reason I drift away from apps. If something is there you always want to use and you need to reach into another screen to use it, i tend avoid using it altogether. But in this case there is so much reverb on every preset i want to turn off.. oh whatever.

I like stringlab also. Not a fan of that ui either but the number of controls within reach far exceeds ringz.

Id just rather scroll h or v instead of mess with tabs and popup windows.

    Anyone compare these to objekt?
