FCB1010 Midi Controller on Loopy Pro
Ola everyone I’m very new on loopy pro but have being working with the Boss Rc505mk2+FCB1010 MIDI foot controller for quite sometime and I’m trying with not much success to connect the Fcb1010 on my iPad throughout my audio interface by midi but seems more complicated than I thought and now I’m stuck. I really need a help to setup it step by step and move forward with this possible new setup for live performance and songwriting being able to send CC msgs to the Loopy Pro on my iPad to rec/play/stop the loops to have free hands while I play the guitar and all. Please someone can help with it all? Would be a game changer for me if works and if I could make it happens!

What problems are you having?
Midi learn is generally as simple as turn on midi learn, touch the thing you want controlled, send the midi to learn.
If that doesn’t work, if you give details about what actually happens, that would help us be able to advise.
This troubleshooting page covers the most common issues:

Have you checked our any of video tutorial series for Loopy? There are several that go into almost every facet of Loopy Pro.
Yes thanks for that! The thing is I just can’t make the iPad at loopy pro recognise or find the Fcb1010 even after I mapped the cc messages right on the Control settings/global profile/add action and not sure how to make it work. Usually with the Fcb1010 midi foot controller would have to be programmed to work with iPad or the iPad at loopy pro software would recognise it when plugged through the midi on the audio interface to the iPad? I’m very confused and frustrated with this as I’m tottaly stucked and can’t work until I find a way to make the midi foot controller and the loopy pro communicate so a guy programming the fcb1010 to send cc commands and did the exactly what he said but still nothing. Someone could help on the right and specific steps to make it work please as seems possible but I just a lost with it sorry?!
Hi,
let's systematically try to figure out what's going. If the iPad sees the MIDI, setup is usually straightforward. Since you haven't provided details, let's go through things step by step.
First, launch a standalone midi monitor such as Show MIDI or MIDI wrench
Press a button you want Loopy to see.
Does any MIDI arrive?
What MIDI is received...provide the message and channel. Or make a screencapture and post it.
If MIDI was received, launch Loopy Pro.
Create a new project using Loopy Pro's default document.
Turn on MIDI LEARN.
Tap the first donut on the page.
Tap the pedal whose MIDI you checked with the monitor.
Male a screen capture and post it of what the MIDI Learn window shows.
It doesn’t show up theFCb1010 midi in any of the apps i tried, midiwrench, midimitr or midi scope, there’s not much specific information about the Fcb1010 midi foot on the loopy pro that I could access? Would be easier to check with someone that did make it work as I guess is because the type of midi controller I’m using as seems old and complicated in compare to all the new midi controllers or midi foot controllers more popular
What audio interface are you using?
How is the FCB1010 connected to the interface? 5-pin MIDI?
How is the interface connected to your iPad/iPhone?
Can you see the audio interface inputs and outputs in Loopy Pro, AUM, etc.?
If the FCB1010 MIDI is not reaching your device, there's no point in discussing Loopy Pro setup.
I’m using the Arturia’s minifuse 4 and yes is all connected correctly with the 5 pin midi cables and yes the loopy pro recognises the minifuse 4 audio interface no problem and the Fcb1010 is connected midi out/through to the midi in at the interface and the interface is connect it to the iPad going usb C at the interface to the apple lightning adapter to the iPad lightning input
Hmmm. I see that the Arturia manual only describes using the Minifuse 4 as a computer interface. Apparently the audio interface is compatible with iPadOS. But do you know whether the Minifuse 4 MIDI interface is "class compliant"? That will be required for the iPad to "see" it. I believe that iPadOS apps should see the MIDI port even without the FCB1010 connected. If they cannot see it, you may need a different 5-pin MIDI interface.
Also, just to be sure, you have connected the FCB1010 to power, and turned it on?
The issue isn’t with Loopy. Since MIDI Wrench isn’t seeing the MIDI, it means the OS doesn’t see it. This would indicate that the mini fuse doesn’t send the midi to iOS.
Does the FCB1010 only have 5-pin midi out or does it have a USB out? Quite a few people on the Loopy Discord use one.
It's only 5-pin, I believe. It dates from 2013, and has an actual power cord.
And when you press the switches , midi wrench sees nothing?
In loopy pro, when you tap Add Midi does the mini fuse show up in the menu as a possible midi source?
I’ve added a more extensive midi troubleshooting page to the wiki

Thanks everyone, actually the minifuse 4 seems class compliant as far as searched it with other users online so might be interested to try a different midi foot controller
The minifuse 4 may be class compliant for audio, but is it for MIDI? You should be able to see its MIDI ports even with nothing connected. For example, MIDIWrench lists all the ports it can see; minifuse should be in that list. You will not be able to use those ports until the iPad can see them. You might need to use the Arturia computer app to change the minifuse 4 configuration.
By the way, with 5-pin MIDI, you will never see the FCB1010 identified as such; that's only possible with USB-connected MIDI devices.
It isn’t clear to me from what you have said whether the minifuse’ midi port is seen by the os. Many people use that foot pedal with iOS. It isn’t clear what isn’t working.
Please try the general troubleshooting on:
https://wiki.audiob.us/doku.php?id=loopy_pro:midi_troubleshooting
Tell us:
is the minifuse midi port visible in the ShowMIDI app or other monitor that can list the midi ports?
In ShowMIDI, there is a column for each device.
If the minifuse is listed, make sure it’s column is visible on screen
Make sure ShowMIDI is on
Then while the fcb is connected and on, press it’s buttons
You should see activity
Ok I will try that later and see if the minifuse 4 has being recognised, let you guys know later when I get home if works or not, thanks so much everyone
Seems the iPad is not recognising/fiding the midi connections from the minifuse 4 interface at all
To double-check, if you haven’t already, power the iPad down. Disconnect everything. Power up. Log in connect the devices and launch ShowMIDI.
If you get the same result, contact Arturia
i know there. is a through port on the FCB1010, you may have to change it so the throughport is using a midi-out
as the way the FCB1010 works in respect of the midi-out & through port... is that they are separated by a switch inside the settings of the unit.
so it would pay to look into the manual to override the current setting which is likely midi-thru... and revert it to midi-out-
I believe the issue is that the Arturia is not class compliant as a midi interface. Someone on the Discord indicated that Arturia told them that also.
Quite a few people use the FCB. I think the Arturia is the issue.
@utropiks has your iPad ever seen or recognized your midi foot controller before?
In the past I’ve had to use a “liaison” app like Midimittr so that my iPad sees the midi controller. Maybe try to get it to show up in Midimittr, either while connected through the Arturia or directly connected to iPad via hub (you need midi-usb wires for that).
Anyway, once my iPad saw my midi controller via a “liaison” type app, it saw it for all other applications going forward…
@JoyceRoadStudios : I believe his issue is just that the Arturia midi port cannot be made visible to the iPad. The iPad cannot see midi devices attached to it because its midi port is just not visible/available to the iPad.
Right I re-read the thread, seems like the Arturia midi ports are the issue.
I should check the 5-pin midi ports on my Motu M4, perhaps it’s an iOS problem. I don’t use those ports and connect my midi controller via Bluetooth, or the iConnecitivity Mio cable plus hub.
Generally there seems to be more luck with iOS and midi-usb cables, or midi via USB-B connection which passes power and data.
Looks like connections that are 5 pin midi controllers to 5 pin midi audio interface could be the issue…
@JoyceRoadStudios : the Arturia issue isn’t a genera iOS thing. The midi ports are fine in my zoom. My understanding is that the Arturia audio interface us only class compliant for audio not midi.
Makes sense and I remember my motu ports working fine two years ago. Sounds like Arturia should introduce a firmware update, or iOS control app.
