A real singer, Bleass Voices, and Pianoteq Classical Guitar

Last year I wrote a melody with verses to an instrumental by @paulieworld and used the AI Emvoice to sing it. (words by William Blake)

I recently had a chance to record the talented Laura P (a real person) singing those verses. So instead of using the @paulieworld track I wanted to try a new accompaniment using Pianoteq classical guitar which is pretty dang amazing and I’ve barely scratched the expressive surface of it.

I played Laura’s voice through Bleass Voices to layer some harmonies. I’m also really impressed with that app. I could, basically, play the harmonies on my keyboard while listening to the audio. Now I’m very interested in the new Bleass vocal thing coming out soon.

For the guitar part I played a kind of duo with MuseBud to help me fill in more notes. I really like MuseBud as well.

  • Nice song. I also like that poem of his that goes "kiss the joy as it flies by".

Beautiful track for an amazing text !
I understand the temptation this kind of effect brings, but to my taste, you might have slightly overdone the effect on some parts, specially the higher notes which generate some harsh harmonics (especially to my left ear in the mix on headphones).
It is obviously just my opinion and I am sure many will give you different opinions and if you like the result, that's the only thing that matters.
The singer has a beautiful voice, IMHO, she doesn't need that much digital make-up, just a few touch of harmonization here and there to emphasize on the beauty of Blake's words. I am obviously being very picky. It is a beautiful work that would actually deserve a real
    Guitar player.

Thanks for listening! I've liked Blake a long time. Some things really hit me but he can be incomprehensible too. Which I guess is good for a poet. These lines seem kind of gloomy. I'm not reassured at the end. I've got to try to me more upbeat. 😉

Hey, thanks for your analysis and your picky ears! And I agree with you. I just got carried away by the Bleass app which was just too much fun to play with. Also I added some Kajita delay over everything. I didn't get a chance for too many takes with Laura's voice and I was trying to cover up some very tiny flubs - not her fault - when she had such short time to try it.
The guitar was basically me noodling in D mixolydian mode. Pianoteq has some key switches that let you make slides etc.

  • I completely forgot about this. I love your new arrangement. The guitar and piano sound great. I have to agree with @JanKun about Laura. I would love to hear her voice without effects. Just my two cents.

  • Beautiful track with a noted lyricist. Blake was a visual artist, too. And he, apparently, wrote music that fidn’t survivr. I hope you give another of his poems a go.

As to the harmonized, I think a combo of solo voice and texturized would be good.

Thanks! I’ll dial it back if I get more of her vocals again someday. 🤓

Thank you sir! Yes, Blake was a kind of early multimedia artist.

  • Lovely on so many levels, really enjoyed it 🙏
