We need to slow down
In my opinion, everyone is trying to go too fast these days.
Os version after OS version in which nothing gets fixed and yet everything is constantly new.
Apps zooming out half done (Logic Pro) or just stupidly done (reason compact)
Hardware gear, that costs too much, and then uses its initial consumer base as beta testers, only to lower the price and knock the value down on the product…this works the consumer to make your product better and then as a reward they get the bottom dropped out on their investment..wow
What is the hurry?
Is the sun gonna eat the moon by version 12 of Logic Pro or something…so we need to hurry up and get there cuz there’s a sacrifice we need to perform?
I think all these companies need to make version 1 work completely, before ever considering version 2
That is all.
Can someone loan me a plunger so I can pull Tim apples head out of his ars.

It's called "agile" 😂 (yes, it's ridiculous and I hate it. But browse job offers on LinkedIn. EVERY company is looking for AGILE developers 😄)
Same thing with "modern" programming languages having an update once every few weeks which is incompatible with the previous version (Python and Swift are particularly bad offenders here).
Ridiculous.
Night!
EDIT: Maybe it's also that everyone is subconsciously sensing that the end is nigh (the indicators are surely pointing in that direction) and everyone wants to have as much fun as possible before we're crawling around among burning radioactive ruins!
Hmmm I think so perhaps!
Slow down... Yes!! The internet, social media etc have played a horrible role in this speeding up of everything. I mean, people have been things are moving faster for centuries already, but it does seem that we've really turbocharged this over the past 20 years and especially since the introduction of the smartphone.
You can also notice it in the very common occurrence here on the forum where sometimes people reply to posts in a way that shows they have completely misinterpreted even simple things in the post they are commenting on, basically as a result of skim reading everything due to pure overwhelm.
Yeah, this whole world is moving too damn fast. I usually entertain myself by creating music, or listening to music while creating art. I listen to the genre that matches the mood I want to be in at the moment. At night before bed, that's usually Instrumental Lofi HipHop or Ambient. In the morning, it's usually Justice or Vengaboys or some kind of hyper shit.
That said, if I want to really slow down, I'll watch a movie on Prime that has a deliberately slower pace to it ("slower", not "drags on forever"). "Pulp Fiction" and "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" are two of my absolute favourites. Once "The Boy and The Heron" is released to Prime, I'll be purchasing that. It's probably the only movie from last year I thoroughly enjoyed, not just due to its pacing but its characters and Eastern storytelling which eschews the three-act structure and has no villain.
I also like to hang with friends in real life more than I do online. I mean, I have online friends from all over the globe that I like to chat with now and then, but the less time I spend online, the better mental health I have. It's why I haven't been as active here lately on the ABF like I was last month. Although the ABF does move at an easier-to-follow pace for me than, say, Facebook, the Koala servers on Discord, etc.
(And yeah, sometimes a person will get incensed at me if I don't respond right away online. Sorry, but I have a life to live too and don't always have time to see what the latest thing you cooked is. 😆 And quite frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.)
Wishful thinking. I’ve been promised a nuclear Armageddon, WWW3, Y2K computer apocalypse, Mayan end of time, zombie virus, planet killing asteroid, and all of it has been a disappointment every time. Now I’m promised AI holocaust and climate change.
I’m starting to believe that damn end of the world will never come.
WW(W)3 is arguably already going on (I mean, WW2 probably wasn't labeled "WW2" either until AFTER it was "finished").
But let's not go into details and keep it lighthearted... otherwise it'll quickly go the Political Dumpster Fire route 😃
People want their instant gratification, even if it's half-baked.
Nobody is forcing you to join the herd.
Terence Malick’s films can be great for that slowed-down pace. Particularly Badlands, Days Of Heaven, Tree Of Life…
Some Herzog as well.
Yep. But I swear to God I was 26 years old just a day or two ago, or was it a decade or two…Then again, even if life is short, you have to enjoy it and moving fast doesn’t necessarily help with that..
Nice. I'll definitely have to check those out.
Agree
I could possibly have done this a few times haha
LoFi hiphop with rain! Heck yea!
The Bear was a great series!
Yea no doubt! I am quite old school tho…
Hmm maybe soon, AI doesn’t like daddy much.
Yes indeed, it’s just a shared discussion about a notion that grabbed me..and I was quite sure it’s also grabbed others.
Not yet anyways…
Hmmm…may check some of this out.
I’ma spring day lay on my back and decipher images from clouds type of artist anyways…slow and steady wins the race.
Especially considering the soundtracks on some of his films are by Popol Vuh.
it starts with the consumer slowing down their desire for the next "gamechanger" and deciding that what they have is enough. Then the companies will slow down.
People have been making this observation/complaint since at least the beginning of the industrial revolution.
We are a technological species. It’s what differentiates us from the rest of creation. We are made/have made ourselves to co-evolve with the world also of our making.
It will cease only when the energy that makes it possible is finally exhausted.
If only that were true. I can’t describe all the little nudges as forceful, but it’s harder to stop than to go with the flow. You really have to wall yourself off.
With desktop music making, its easier, since everything is built for offline work over there.
With ios music making, its harder to take a firm stand. When I pay a fraction of deaktop sw cost, I do accept that some apps/plugs are half baked, and many will be duds.
But its still a mindset we must be aware of.
