  • I saw five external fingers. 😎. Very good, indeed, and it really hung in there after I listened to Tahiche/Jankun’s epic.

  • Nice sounds, the guitar tone is lovely.

But you’re using NiM wrong. You’re not supposed to make actual music with melodies with it, surely? ;-)

    I'm an iconoclast :)

@klownshed and @LinearLineman thanks for listening and commenting.

  • Nice job, Richard!

  • Love it. Reminds me of guitarist Jonny Nash, one of my favorites.

  • Beautiful guitar tone, and a lovely melody. What a pleasure to listen to. Trying to work out what Gibson model that is 😂

It's a cheap Les Paul. One of these:

but I changed the tuners (the robo-tuners were OK to start with, but eventually just got unbearable, so I replaced them with Grovers). I also changed the tonepots and the truss rod cover.

  • That’s cool. I hadn’t seen someone use NiM. Seems cool! Nice playing too.

What a beauty! My worn brown studio Les Paul looks quite similar :)
What amp sim and settings did you use?
    Nice track btw :)

The amp sim was the Nembrini Cali reverb on the clean channel. Simple but effective.

Fantastic performance! 🤩 If you buy a guitar with single coil pickups instead of a humbucker, you won't need NIM, haha.

    Keep up the good work!

Very cool piece of ambient with a great dynamic clean sound 👍🏻
The Cali is excellent for lush clean sound.

Yeah, not a fan of single coils, I like to add the noise in post :p

It is indeed, the Cali is probably my favourite amp sim.

  • I almost skipped listening when I saw “No Input Mixer”. Is it adding that loud air conditioner noise before you play a single note? Brusfri could take that out. Once you start it’s just lovely… FAC Alteza hasn’t been replaced yet for a truly epic spacey echo to take pianos and guitars to that special place.

It’s great to see your left hand… Personally for something like this I would use fingers to soften the attack… very Jeff Beck and the new wunderkind “Matteo Mancuso”. When you hit the harmonic at the end my body dropped a lot of tension and went “ahhh… there it is”.

NiM followed by Brusfri would make for a great conceptual art piece 🤣 Great suggestion. (The air conditioner noise helps to add texture IMO, in the space between the notes).

Good idea to use fingers, I'll try that next time. Thanks for commenting and for the suggestions.

As I was writing my comments, I thought “what a dick you are being” but I’m glad you find something worth considering for another take.

I wasn't offended by anything you wrote. I thought the fingers suggestion was a good one 👍

Jeff Beck swears that the human hand has more colors than any pick but IMHO they are different from the pick.
Part of his scheme is having a really cranked amp so there’s an acoustic limiter in the speaker system. It’s just set very high… so high most have to resort to something like Alan Holdworth’s “Harness” to simulate amp power rigs at low volumes:

Looking deeper into the Harness, its effect is more like a network of 8 Delays.

  • Real instrument, real hands, real music… lovely 👌
