Experimental Loopy / Drambo Patch: Synchronise Loopy Pro to sync pulses from Volcas, POs etc…
The project can be found on Patchstorage and there is a link to the Drambo part as well:
https://patchstorage.com/volca-drambo-loopy-sync/
The idea is to record the clicks from your analog gear with an audio channel, filter them and trigger a MIDI note. This note is in turn triggering Loopy Pros “Tap Tempo” action.
The drambo patch comes with a “Volca Clicker” pulse generator so you can test and play with this without the hardware connected.

I was thinking “this is exactly what someone was asking for in the drambo forum” then I realized it was you 😅
Glad you sorted that out! How is it working?
This solution is not based on a synchronised LFO, but it is merely a discriminator that filters, isolates and forms the trigger pulse for the Midi note event. I realised that Loopy Pro does pretty good beat accurate tempo tracking when using Tap Tempo events as pulse input. So an oscillator is not needed. I want to add a divider though, because there are 1,2,28,48 PPQ clock standards.
And the "real world" test has to wait a few days until I have more recovered from that bike accident. That's the reason for creating the "Volca Clicker" simulator.
You know, Drambo is.....
Haha 😂 (for the “drambo is”, not your bike accident, get well soon)
My memory is somewhat fuzzy, and syncing Volcas might not be your main goal, but FWIW a couple years ago I had it going the other direction: Volcas syncing with midi sent from Mozaic in AUM using Midi Clock Tool written by @wim:
https://patchstorage.com/midi-clock-tool/
I can't remember, I think the Volcas worked at either 24 or 48 ppq. Actually, I think Volcas used 48ppq but I used the Midi Clock Tool at 24ppq to get half tempo sync on Volcas. And I did something to get swing on Volcas with this "swung midi clock" idea: https://sonicstate.com/news/2013/11/26/get-your-volca-bass-to-swing/. ( by adding 'ppqn=18' and 'SetMetroSwing 50' lines in Mozaic.)
Of course, this method uses Midi Clock messages directly, no use of the audio tempo clicks in Volcas.
I often use MIDI clock at home but sync pulses have their advantages. The reason for getting the sync pulse input going is that I often jam with my friends from our synthesizer club. We decided to go for sync pulses for various reasons:
You might consider a version that sends out midi clock rather or in addition to tap tempo as loopy pro (and Audiobus) have jitter smoothing which may benefit the quality of synced audio.
Interesting. Thanks for clarifying.
