Saudade (Drambo Track)

I’ve been a little discouraged and depressed lately so it took me over three weeks to finish. Slightly different version

Comments

  • Sorry to hear about the depression. Unfortunately, it’s just part of life. You’re not alone. Take it from one who’s been there. Long sad story. This is really smooth and nice. I’m tapping my toes in the dark right now. Cool track.

  • Sounds good dude! It's from the dusty dark corners of life we fetch our creativity. Like Paul says, it is, part of life however much it sucks at the time.

  • “Saudade” is probably the most portuguese word there is. I wish you luck with your endeavors

  • One of those tracks which makes me wish I understood Drambo. Great work.

  • @Svetlovska not understanding it is no excuse, I mean just look at me 😅
Actually we could use a female perspective at the beepstreet forum, just the other day I was thinking there are no female drambonians that I know of. What is it that puts you girls off?

‘“You girls” :) Maybe the assumption that being somehow representative of a whole category of people on the basis of what is in my jeans, as opposed to being an individual who just doesn’t get a particular app, representative of nothing other than myself? Then again, if Drambo came in pink… ? ;)

  • I’ll crawl back into my hole now

I really enjoyed the rhythms, beautiful pads, and production on this track and encourage you to have fun and keep cranking out the hits. Do you use audio units inside DRambo or just what is included?

  • @Paulieworld @Pxlhg Thank you for the kind words. @pedro Thank you! Saudade is a beautiful word. @Svetlovska Thanks! I barely understand it myself. @myapologies I use Drambo almost exclusively as a daw/ sequencer for Audio Units. Thank you for listening.

  • Lovely track. Some great sounds subtly used 👍
Hope things improve for you 🙏

Nah, you don’t need encouragement as you’re doing just fine (or so it sounds)
    Bring it on!

  • Great stuff, I really like the deep electro vibes.

  • My favorite part of this is the really nice subtle use of the portamento. It's just the right amount and the slide time is spot on. Like the bassline progressions as well. Great mix. Nice work jdp. Stay positive! You are being creative!

    Thank goodness for music!

  • @pedro @kirmesteggno @drez Thanks for the kind words and listening. @MrStochastic Music is an amazing thing!

  • Music surely is a dear friend. Sometimes I wish I could turn off the music in my head, though. Messes up my sleep cycles. Too much of a good thing, I gather

  • I mean who hasn’t violently woke from a sweaty dream at 4am to “FREAK OUT!!! tara tara tantam, le freak c’est chick” cast the first stone

For sure! I easily obsess over things I enjoy. I guess that’s the recovering addict in me.

  • I loved your track!
And BTW “Chega De Saudade” is considered the first Bossa Nova song opening the way to that wonderful season. It remains one of the most beautiful songs of the era especially in the João Gilberto version

  • I can go grab my tamborim, or a cuíca or a pandeiro. I’m even down for a surdo

  • Very good listen. I thought the percussion would get old but it lasts throughout. As to depression, I guess most of us have experienced it. I lost a lot of money and consequently lost a marriage I wanted. Ironically the money and the marriage came back, but in an almost incomprehensibly sad way.

There is courage in endurance. We don’t have control over much though we devise all sorts of delusions to pretend we do. Treat yourself as well as possible and try to lessen the importance of it all. It's always gonna be a weird mix unless you go unconscious like Babbit. Expect the unexpected and try not to add to the suffering by blaming yourself (or others) for it. Or asking why me. Cheap advice, I know.

For myself, I don’t want to be too happy. Happy enough, but not so happy I have a hard time letting go when the time comes. I guess that’s non attachment.

  • Sounds cool. Nice use of Hammerhead, just too bad it doesn’t offer separate outputs.
Very nice track. It could almost pass for Richard James!

  • @Spinoza Thank you! I’ll give it a listen. @LinearLineman Thank you for the thoughtful and kind words. @Antos3345 Thank you! Hammerhead is actually multi out.
