Baby Audio releases TAIP for iOS
Hey all,
Today we are proud to share TAIP with the iOS community. TAIP is our AI-powered tape saturation plugin, and it is on sale now for $9.99 on the App Store.
This is pretty much a 1 to 1 port, but with some UI tweaks to improve legibility on smaller devices. All information and specs on the plugin hold up for both desktop and mobile. You can read more about it here
You can check out TAIP for iOS here

Nice! Can't wait to try this one out. And thank you always for making an iPhone version. And thank you for such a reasonable intro price! Looking forward to Atoms. Any ETA on its arrival?
Was waiting for this one! Hoping smooth operator will follow soon
2 TAIP threads... that's TAIP saturation.
🥇
@tristan Congrats on the release! 👏
@tristan I love the improved preset selection (presets not getting selected when scrolling) can/will this be implemented in the other baby audio auv3's? It is my biggest gripe with working with ba-1 and crystalline.
Bumping this as the official developer release thread.
I didn't think that I needed yet another tape sim, but I caved anyway. It does sound awesome, and is very easy to dial in.
On the master bus I still prefer Reelbus in my testing though, it's much easier to dial in the right level of subtlety.
For everyday warming, distorting, and fattening Taip is pretty good, and is a good companion to Saturn.
It’s funny how we’re “biased” one way or another. I just don’t get the love for ReelBus. It’s so subtle!. I can’t tell what it’s doing before it’s too much. Also don’t get the different “recorder, master bus, etc…” modes with different UI’s.
ChowTape I love, I just get it. I purchased TAIP because of the AI thing, curious to see if it sounds any different.
Have you watched my YT walkthrough on Reelbus? It explains all those 'Recorder', 'Master' etc settings. Reelbus can also be very unsubtle. All explained in that vid. Or in the manual! But yes, just for pure heavy saturation I personally prefer the sound of TAIP. They're both good in their own ways, I feel. Same with Chow, Caelum Audio's Tape Pro, and now TAIP - and I've done very detailed spoken walkthroughs on all 4.
I would like to see this happen on our other AUv3s Hopefully sooner rather than later!
@tristan that sounds very hopefully! Is there a place where can submit feature request tickets for this?
Loving how easy it is to get great sounding results with Taip!
I can’t reproduce the sound and feel of Taip with Chow Tape, and even less on Saturn2 and UA tools. These are my main warmers / saturators. BabyAudio captured that magical tape feel the best, this is a great example of how to utilize ML power and stay on the human side. Of course, this is only my humble opinion.
Yes Luxthor, the only thing that could get remotely close to the beautiful distorted sound of this, for me, was Nembrini Voltour - tube not tape, but came close. I am no expert on tape (apart from having made a lot of mix tapes back in the day, lol) but I can say that I love that TAIP sound and that no other tape plugin I tried comes close to having that sound. Actually Ed mentioned BYOD, I might have a look at how that, sounds like a promising free option.

Agree on both accounts. Taip and Voltour are both great at recreating and emulating that actual hardware sound. They both destroy and mangle (or warm and saturate) the sound in such a pleasant way. But can also sound very unpleasant which I love lol
I just watched your walkthrough, it’s really informative and experimental, with a bunch of good comparisons. Regarding Taip, you don’t need patches at all, a drive button with a lo / hi shape is enough for 99% of your needs. Every other option just makes this tool a must-have.
You handled the subject of rudimentary patch management like a real gentleman. I guess we are lucky to have this working at all.
Further, I would like to know developer names, is Silvin Willemsen also involved in this one?
Thanks buddy! Yes, on this it's so simple to dial things in that you'll never need to even open the preset browser! Devs, no idea but I'm sure @tristan will know.
No, Silvin was not involved in this one.
I understand it’s the ML under the hood, but someone eventually must be responsible for the final model. I respect your secrecy, just send them a 🫡 salutation from me, they did a fantastic job. 🤩
Thanks for the clarifications.
