TF7 Synth, Video Demo and lots of Sounds Previewed

I love this synth and since I did my last video for TF7 they have been a lot of changes, I still think this is the best FM Synth for iOS and actually its holds its own with many VSTi's, some of the new extended algorithm sounds are nothing short of breathtaking.

  • MMM, That sounds very nice. I think it is time to pick up the new algorithms. I also really need to explore this beast further. Thanks for the tip Doug.

  • I get a bit carried away with tf7, I really could have gone on and on and on

  • So naturally I watched the video and instantly wanted to upgrade to the latest IAP's. But the Store is not coming up from inside TF7 when I hit the Store button - just blank. Is that happening to anybody else?

  • Thats odd, because thats gow I bought the IAP's just before making the demo

  • Worked fine now, went right to it. Great sounds.

  • I bought the new algorithms after watching your video, happy to support a cool developer, but more importantly, they do sound great!

  • Noise horse, glad your issue was resolved.
I really love how Doug demos the sounds... Some classical training there eh?

  • No, self taught, can't read nor write music, well not to any degree, actually I love this job because basically I'm lazy, I just like to sit and improvise, I like to play with the apps. Obviously I do record stuff, but the actual recording is a pain for me, I like listening to the end product then I move on. i like synths like TF7, M3000, Alchemy, Jordantron, the Arturia stuff because all the hard work is done by the developers and they inspire me to play.

Actually Joanne is much more disaplined than me, here is a really nice song she wrote called Turning which is about growing old and reflecting on the past she had the whole thing recorded before she gave it me as a test track, so really its just a guide track, a rough draft if you like, not mixed or mastered, the only thing I have done with it is add a piano solo for the mid8, the rest is Jo, her music, lyrics, playing, except for the solo bit. The point is whenever you hear one of our finished tracks most of the production and mix is Jo because I've moved on to the next project or app video.

Something else which is kind of off topic is abilty to record vocals, you never hear her take a breath, or there is never a pop and honestly I've never de-essed one her vocals, she spent a lot of time getting the compression right for her voice and then stuck with that setting forever, she great with vocal delay too, nearly everything has some vocal delay, listen really close through headphones, the vocal in this needs to come up a couple of db but apart from the mix the vocal production is spot on because its the same settings she would use to record it properly.

Funny (and inevitable) that we always imagine if we had another man's skills we would value them and use them to their fullest degree. I can't be the only one who has thought, 'well, sure, if I could play like him I'd be knocking out perfect concertos/lead solos by the dozen'.

I am coming to the conclusion that the completion gene is one of the most underrated talents in almost all areas of endeavor. But boy, I do love to start things....it's just that, you know, I get distracte---oh look, a bald chicken!

  • That's why collaboration is important.

  • Because Chickens need someone to get them a hat once in a while!

  • I'm having trouble completing this post, let alone an actual so

  • ng.

    There. Did it.

I realize this more and more every time I go to start something new lately. It's easy to get bored with your own ideas.
