List of apps that allow a master tuning to A= 432hz

edited February 25 in General App Discussion

First off let me start by saying this thread is only meant for people who are interested in master tuning their music to 432hz. Not to start another discussion for people who feel the urge to question or belittle this subject matter in any way.

That out of the way… for the ones that are interested I thought we could create a list of the apps that allow master tuning to A= 432hz or other tools that you use that are helpful in creating music in this master tuning.

These are the ones I found so far:

Animoog Z
FRMS
DRC
Pianoteq

Other Tools:

Mononoke (will tune to any key to a wide range of frequencies but you will need a tuner to confirm the frequencies)

Keytuner (a tuner that will let you set 432hz as your reference pitch)

It’s just a start. Hopefully we can turn this thread into a reference source.

  • @Crano : you might consider adding this to the wiki https://wiki.audiob.us/doku.php?id=start which will make it both easier to find and maintain in the future.

  • @espiegel123 ow wow thanks I didnt even know about this. Good idea! I will have to look into how it works though.

    • tal u no lx and twin 3 both load .tun files
    • the kq ones: dixie and sampei
    • nambu
    • sunrizer is supposed to load .tun files but doesn’t work..
    • flowtones (no microtuning options)

It is pretty much as simple as going to the wiki and using the Add New Page popup at the top of the page. Just type the page name (leave the popup that says Root alone). There are formatting icons that are pretty straightforward. If you need any help, enter all the text that needs to be on the page and give me a holler.

  • synthmaster one is able to load scala files again

  • Do you want apps with a Master Tuning in cents? For example, Redshrike, Mersenne - probably all the IceGear apps. Tuning to -32 cents is not exactly 432 but pretty close.

  • GeoShred allows fine tuning in cents as well as providing some presets. 432 is shown as -31.78.

Pure Synth Platinum can be tuned in cents, like those mentioned above.

SoundFonts has a built-in option to use A=432 Hz.

King of Digital has 432 Hz mode (Settings page).

Trooper has a tuning slider calibrated in Hz, so you can dial 432 Hz exactly.

SynthMaster 2 has a tuning setting in Hz, so you can dial in 432.

    Phosphor3 can tune in Hz.

StringLab has Master Tune in Hz.

@espiegel123 thanks! Lets fill this thread up a bit first.

@jimhanks yes I’m also sometimes tuning in 32cents. To me it’s a great improvement over standard tuning, although I’m not sure if it’s accurate enough for every purpose (sound healers for instance). I’m definitely leaning towards this approach when working with sampled material or when I want to use synths that are limited in master tuning. Another option is tuning the presets by hand of course.

@pruddo I only see master tuning in semitones and cents for Nambu, no 432hz tuning. Or maybe I’m missing something? Perhaps by hand in the microtuning section. Still have to figure that out.

@uncledave King Of Digital doesnt seem to have it in settings on my iPhone 🤔

  • Continua and Quanta.

  • Strokes does it too. It also lets you import Scala files

  • I just saw that Decent Sampler also allows for scala files

And here I found a web based tool that allows you to create scala files among other formats:

    https://sevish.com/scaleworkshop/?n=12 equal divisions of 2/1&f=c0&version=2.1.0
