  • This sounds like a perfect soundtrack to a Studio Ghibli film. So talented. That Shakuhachi is wonderful. So much detail in there. Chord structures are sooo sick. I can't wait to listen to this on a drive through the country side.

  • Great use of the Shakuhachi in a nontraditional way.

  • love the harmony. Im still convinced you're at your best with piano solo.

  • I have to agree with drez about the chord structure’s. Awesome stuff!

  • Nice. If you want my honest opinion, I think stands on its own without the Shakuhachi, which is very cool sound, but doesn’t quite fit here. Just my two cents.

One of my favorite pianists is actually best known as a jazz drummer, Jack Dejohnette. Your piece reminded me of a duet he did with Eddie Gomez at Jazz Showcase in Chicago. At the time, I didn’t know he was such an excellent pianist and composer. My buddy was a jazz drummer, and he talked me into going that night. I’m glad I did. I don’t remember the music, but I remember the feel.

  • Thanks @drez @MrStochastic @jo92346 @jdp000 @Paulieworld. You know,if I didn’t have iOS I might’ve stopped playing altogether. I had kind of run out of gas with solo piano. But, as an adjunct to all the other instrumental fun my solo piano has its place.

    Thx for listening, guys!

  • I like it. Always your harmonies / improv are solid. I understand about running out of gas. That happened to me on trumpet before.

  • Thanks @Dav. I’ve seen highs and lows now for over fifty years. The past five yrs have been my most productive, fortunately, but you never know when the tide will turn.

  • I know variety is the spice of life (especially given your Indian cuisine explorations) but I’m with Joseph and Paul on this one. The piano is so beautiful I’m happy just listening to it solo 👌

  • Thx @GeoTony i’ll listen to the piano solo and maybe post it. Appreciation!
