Drum-Sampler AUV3 Midi In-Out Capable

Is there a drum sampler to use in AUM that is not "sandboxed" (like Korg Gadget) and that gives the possibility of importing your own samples? And can it be triggered via midi in aum by other plugins? Thank you

Never had Gadget but looking at recent threads you can now use individual gadgets as AUv3s

Assuming you’re wanting “sample players” rather than something you can actually sample with, off the top of my head there’s DigiStix 1 and 2, Sitala, Koala. I think FAC Drumkit let’s you import samples but not 100%

  • The gadget auv3s are "sandboxed" and do not allow access to the stand alone version folder so I would have to stay there copying everything and doubling the samples 😪 let's hope that the auv3s I have You indicated they don't have the same problem

  • Drambo isn't sandboxed, it can import files both via the Files app as well as using its WebDAV network driveand it works great in AUM.

Sitala. Apparently, Sitala unlike other drum apps can browse folders of samples, and use the samples without importing/duplicating files. Something like that, I should know better as I have it. Also, try the desktop version first, you can probably demo it for free.

Drambo is too much for what I need. I just need a drum sampler that can be triggered via midi in aum.

Are you sure it's not "sandboxed"? Can I upload the samples from a PC via network/USB and then have them available in the AUV3 system?

Ah but I use Sitala on PC, I didn't think it was also available for iPad 😁 I just hope it's not "sandboxed"

You can put the files anywhere on your iPad and in Sitala point it to the folder where all your samples are.
Same works with Koala too, just add the 'locations' where your samples are stored for quick access within Koala.

Hammerhead can use samples stored anywhere on your device.

Koala can too, but it only has midi out from its pads, not from its sequencer. It also has one quirk to be aware of. Midi mapping to the pads shifts around depending on if the app is in landscape or portrait.

  • Sitala should be the winner, what do you think? Is it possible to connect the sitala pads via midi in aum? So you can make them play with other apps?

Ok, but I do this with the Gr16 for example: I connect the iPad to the PC, throw 40gb of samples in iTunes in the shared files and then I find them both in stand alone and in auv3, even Sitala right?

I'd put all the samples on the top level on the device (ie. a top level folder called 'Samples' with sub-folders or something similar) and not into 'some apps folder' because if you delete the app at some point all the samples will be deleted too as an apps 'Documents' folder will be deleted when you delete an app...

But yes, as long as the samples can be seen with Files.app both Sitala and Koala can access them from both stand-alone and AUv3 as both apps have a way to select favorite locations for samples so just point them to the same folder and both apps can access the same samples without any duplication...

In Sitala you just 'Add a Location' and point to the folder with all samples, same with Koala.

  • I'm Italian, and I like simple things. And then don't forget that Italo Disco is ours 😁😁 and that Giorgio Moroder was Italian 😆😆 I'm joking, you're great 😁

  • This Is my sound 😁

  • IMO Sitala is a fine choice for playing drum samples if you want a nice clean interface, and the ability to do some MIDI control and some sample adjustments such as tuning and compression. There are many other apps that can play back user provided drum samples including Digistix 2, BeatHawk, Playbeat 3, SDS-X, EG Pulse (which I have used) in addition to the other apps mentioned. Your best choice will depend on what interface you would prefer and what features you want. Some will offer choke groups, others have extensive sample editing abilities built-in, some have really great sequencers and pads for playback. It's probably worth checking out a few videos on the various apps if you really want to find the best fit, but I would totally understand if you just want something that works and is good enough. I've found myself bogged down in finding the "best" app for the job and losing track of the original goal!

    Sitala is the GOAT

Hammerhead is great, but it’s sample management leaves a lot to be desired. There’s no audition in the file browser so trolling through a sample folder is PAIN.

  • I I chose Sitala, simple and functional
