MidiDreams CC routing
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, MidiDreams is one of my very favorite apps. I use it every day in AUM, building up sequences and chained controls.
But I’ve run into an issue… something that appears that it should work, doesn’t.
I’ve routed a CC controller (Surface Builder, to be specific), to the Root Note. When running the sequence, if I change this value in MidiDreams itself, in the Scale popup, I see the notes on the sequencer change and can hear the results. But when I execute the CC control, even though I watch the Scale buttons change as if I were pressing them, the sequence doesn’t actually alter.
So I’m getting the visual feedback that suggests it should be working… but it doesn’t.
I’ve written Art Kerns directly - actually a few emails in succession as I try to work through this - but I’m wondering if anyone else here has exercised this feature?

I haven't tried this, but I do love MidiDreams and analog sequencers in general. If you cannot solve this problem, then I have just released a Mozaic script, that might be of use to you: https://patchstorage.com/sequence-your-keys-the-sq-1-companion/
The script was designed for the Korg SQ-1 sequencer, but should work with MidiDreams as well. It does not control the sequencer, but you can change MIDI Channel and musical key by simply tapping on the pads.
Cool. Always love to see new Mozaic scripts. Will definitely check it out.
Kerns responded to my inquiry, and confirmed that the feature, which used to work, now doesn’t. He said he’ll release an update, but that it might take a bit to to it. Which is fine… knowing it’s coming is great, and in the meantime I can work around it.
I’m happy to report that the latest update corrected the issue. Mididreams now changes root note using CC.
This build also fixed the midi note input to advance the sequencer. In the past it would often mute some notes if the gates on the input were at max.
Since you’re in contact with the developer, might you’ve open to the idea of writing him to see if it’s possible to add steps by dragging your finger across the interface rather than placing them one by one? or make that an option?
(Edit: for the midi drums portion of the app, that is)
