A little bit of Hilda: The Zone Of Uncertainty

Zona incerta, the ‘zone of uncertainty’ : a region of the brain of which nothing certain can be said. Its functions are mysterious; unknown. So unknown, it doesn’t even feature in many anatomical textbooks. It is suspected it may have something to do with the way we make, or interpret, memories. And possibly something to do with Parkinson’s. But the present state of knowledge is: speculation.

The bumping of the Hilda thread prompted me to this bit: 3 instances of Hilda in AUM, no other instruments, running patches adapted from the randomiser, backed up by three more Tape Player Live Loops of same, varispeeded, live mixed via Outer Space and Alteza, FAC Bandit, Bark Filter and LRC5 down into AudioShare.

Fly, my beauties. Fly.

  • This is very mysterious and also surprisingly orchestral!! Very very impressed!!! I wish i could make hilda sound like that!!

  • Thank you! I wish I could lay claim to great sound design credentials, but it really was just a matter of hitting randomise a few times until it came up with some noises and a pattern I thought I could tweak a little. All the genius resides with @brambos :)

  • This is brilliant. Thanks for sharing. Congrats!

  • It sounds cool..sounds like it would fit a film score.

  • great sound!

  • Nice ambience. Not too freaky 🙃 I like it

  • Lovely mixture of tone and texture, almost guitar like at points! Good reminder to go back to Hilda as well 🤘

  • I certainly liked this one.

Thanks all for the listens and comments. Hilda is one of those apps which keeps surprising me. Using it is always a (literal) roll of the dice for me. It came good on this one, I think. Though, @jimhanks : I clearly need to up my weirdness game! ;) More power to the Freak!
