Drambo project in AUM

I made a project inside Drambo and I wish to open the project inside AUM.

I opened Drambo (8 outs) in the first channel then went to 'Multi/bus Audio Unit Instances' in AUM and pressed Drambo on each. Now I have a few instances of Drambo but that's as far as I got. I tried choosing many options in the first Drambo but I'm a total newbie to this and have no idea how to get the different tracks from Drambo to the different tracks in AUM.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

@dicky - the easiest way to get started from what you've done so far is to start a new project in Drambo using the "Multiout AudioUnit" template. This will set up 8 tracks ready to go with output to the other multi out instances.

If you look at the settings for each track (tap the track header to get to the settings), you'll see that each has "Audio to 1" set to "Ext.Out 1", "Ext.Out 2", etc.. That's where the output selection is made. However, because of the way multi-out nodes are named in AUM, you'll note that the output designation in Drambo is one less than what the number next to the node is in AUM. That's just because Drambo and most other plugins number their output nodes from zero.

You don't have to start from the Multiout AudioUnit Template. You can make these track output settings changes individually. Note: "Default (Module out)" will go to the "zero" (main) instance. I find it easier to not start with that template, and to only change track outputs as I need them. Most of my tracks will go to the main, and I only want to route a few to multi-out occurrences, so I change the track output individually as needed.

Not to confuse things, but because it can be useful, there's an additional way to route track audio to multi-bus instances:

If using this module you need to also watch where the track itself is receiving audio from and where it's sending since unless you disconnect the track output, it may be parallel routing. I usually disconnect it just to avoid surprises.

  • I just want to add that, if your project includes AUv3 plug-ins, you will not be able to load it in AUM. This is an Apple limitation: an AUv3 plug-in (Drambo in this case) cannot also be an AUv3 host.

Well, you can load the project ... but the plugins won't load. 😉
