iPad 11 Pro M2 Vs. iPad 12.9 M1
I am seriously considering changing my newer iPad Pro 11 128 gb (6th generation) for maybe a used but excellent condition iPad Pro 2.9 (2021) 256 gb. The prize for the iPad 12 is around 935 US (correction). Sometimes I feel the 11 is a nice sweet spot between size and comfort, but the 12.9 looks like it will be better visually and of course screen space.
Is this a normal price ? Any thoughts?
Thanks

$3700 (US) for a second-hand 256Gb 12.9 M1 seems really steep to me.
I paid £1600 for a brand new 1TB 12.9 M1 in 2022.
If the iPad 12 for $3700 is a mistyping and you mean $370 for a 12.9" from 2021 then that's a steal.
Yeah I made a mistake I meant to write 935USD.. big difference:) I had to use a currency conversion and mistyped.
In the U.S., at least, you can get an official Apple refurb iPad Pro 12.9 256GB (2021) for $979. Comes with same warranty as new unit, a new battery, new case, new packaging. So take that as a data point.

Yeah, if only I lived there
In Europe Apple prices are like 25% higher. The real question will the change be better? M1 vs M2 is not much I think with these apps.
If it's a choice between an M2 with a smaller screen vs an M1 with a bigger screen then I would choose the bigger display, it will make a much bigger difference in actual use.
Thanks, I will decide tomorrow. M1 I heard is quite excellent and not much different than the M2 on iPad.
I have a 5 inch, 11 inch, and 12.9 inch. Go big, you won't be sorry; at least I wasn't.
Yeah, I think I should go bigger. My wife says the same:)
Maybe I keep my 11 and grab a 12 too.
Anything I should look out for when purchasing a used iPad 12.9? They say battery life is between 90-100 %.
Well, yeah, easy if you're starting from scratch. If you already have an iPad Pro 11 and you're debating whether it's worth upgrading to iPad Pro 12.9, very different question. It's effectively forking out a lot of net dollars in exchange for a larger screen (and possibly unknown issues if you're going used), when you already have something that works perfectly fine.
That's true! Maybe I need to be careful of my impulsiveness.
Would you pick it up personally? If they are so certain they’ll probably won’t mind letting you check through this shortcut:

It's at a shop so I can try it out.
I am thinking I could sell my (6th Gen M2) 11" and get the M1 / 12.9 for close to the same exchange price. The plus is the larger screen and 256 gb storage.
As @hes stays, if you plan to effectively use it as a laptop, or on a stand, a slightly slower 12.9 can beat out an 11, if screen size truly matters to you. But if you want to actually use it as a tablet in your hands, there’s a HUGELY compelling case for the smaller screen. I can’t stress this enough. The large screen can be awkward to handle. You have to try it and see what works for you.
I actually regret getting a 12.9” Pro in many ways, and am actually considering an 11” Air as a better value replacement. It sounds bizarre, but your use scenario is what matters, and can result in some counterintuitive choices.
Yeah, it could be I get the 12.9 and then realize later that I made a mistake or I miss the convenience of the ease of the 11" when traveling around with it in my backpack or bringing it in the car, to bed, etc. Maybe the 11 is better for me..?? Yes, I want it for universal use, not only for my studio. My studio is mainly my iPad, until I may mix it in my "studio" with small speakers.
This is what I love about my iPad.. Ok, I'm a bit nuts:)
Go to a store and play with one for more than 5 minutes, and see what you think.
yes, I think I will do that..cheers:)
As you use Drambo, I think it was made with the bigger iPads in mind, you will likely get more out of the collapsible/rezisable UI elements, same with Logic.
I also want to try the 12.9 iPad. There is a very good offer for 12.9 3gen (2018) in very good condition. Anyone else here using this model? Now I’m using an iPad Mini 6 (2021) and its power is enough for my purposes and I don’t need more for now. Will 12.9 3gen (2018) have enough power for me?
I would go for the newer units not only because of power, but for the future of IOS updates.
yeah, it's true..
It's almost 50% less powerful than the ipad Mini 6 in apps like Drambo that only use one core. You can compare singlecore performance of iPads here: https://browser.geekbench.com/ios_devices/ipad
Support for this model may also run out in ipadOS 19, 18 will be the last one I think.
Thanks for that important info. I think I'll just stick with my iPad 11 Pro M2. It's been good and faithful. I can always hook up an external display if screenspace is an issue. I've made loads of nice music on it too.
It's surprising because the pro 3gen is almost identical to the pro 4gen 2020. As a result, we get that the Mini 2021 is almost 2 times more productive than the Pro 2020
Most of these IOS music apps I think don’t make a huge difference between m1/m2. cores
It is a ton of time that I didn’t use IPad for music.
I had an iPad Pro12.9 2020 512 GB of ram and I’ve bought last week an IPad Pro M2 12.9 512 GB ram.
Zero improvement at all.

In audio application with stressful session in AUM when my old IPad got on his knees the same happen now with the new.
better CPU usage on the old.
Don’t do the same error.
Do you have miRack? It’s multithreaded host so I think you could get 4-6x the performance (number of auv3s). I wish AUM was multithreaded too…
