Anyone successfully still using DFX?

This Fingerlab app DFX was recently put back on the app store, with supposed updates including Audiobus support (!) maintenance updates, and etc. Personally, I can't get it to work in many of its functions -- e.g., loading files, using as an effect... even launching it in Audiobus crashes it. Has anyone put this old thang through paces recently, in AUM or Loopy or AB3 or AM, and found it usable?

(Many of you would reject it outright it because it's not an AUV3 plugin. I hear you. May we stipulate that your opinion exists and is universally acknowledged, so as not to go off-topic? Much appreciated, and TIA.)

I reported the problems a month ago to the developer.

Then they just brought out the update to fix the problem - but it didn't.

I told the dev that it was still broken and he got back to me:

"OK sorry for this issue with DFX and AudioBus and thanks for let us know about it. Pascal, the DFX dev, had a lot of trouble to update AudioBus and he is still using an old AudioBus version in DFX, this is why it does not work well I think. I will check with him what he can do about it."

I also told him that IAA is broken and that is a bigger issue for me as I can't use the app in AUM or Cubasis.

So, hopefully there will be another update soon.

  • No, none of us are using it.

  • Actually I still use it on occasion.

  • Though I will add that it doesn't work currently with AUM
so like everyone else, I'm waiting patiently for the update.

  • I like that app. Always have and use it on occasion. Bitchen effects processor.

    +1.

  • I got it working in AUM just now. You need to open DFX standalone and click the Mic icon in the top left corner. In the dialog, turn on Live Input. Keep the app open, then load it in AUM.

Launching DFX directly from AUM doesn’t work. If Live Input isn’t pre-enabled before you load it in AUM, the Mic button is just greyed out and DFX only works with its internal sound sources. If you pre-enable Live Input, once you load DFX in AUM, the Mic button should show the AUM logo, not a Mic icon or blank grey.

    Well that worked.

Currently got it doing it’s thing on my external drum machines.

    Thanks.

    Well done and thank you.

  • Automation still seems to be broken in AUM.

If you select a preset that has automation it comes back - kind of.

    The app needs fixing...

  • Yeah, I got an email from support too. It made vague promises of fixing the app, but didn't acknowledge any specific issues I mentioned. Disappointing.

  • This is the kind of comment gold that keeps me from checking into this forum daily any more. Thank you for the reminder.
