This is crazy (AUM and FAC struggle)

So, this is the situation:

In Loopy i made a bunch of presets for FAC Alteza and Chorus, saved them in Loopies preset system as well as plugin internal.
Next i wanted to copy them to another ipad and it‘s simply not possible. Both ipads running the same ios (17.3) and latest versions of all apps involved.

  1. I just copied the loopy project. Easy. i thought. Nope. Presets not showing up.
  2. Copied the the „effect module presets“ folder for both FAC. Nope. Not showing up.
  3. I opened AUM on the first ipad. All presets there. I did save all presets one by one into AUMs system.Copied the project (nothing), copied the AUM presets folder. SUCCESS….I thought. Presets do show up but all of them are the same init preset.
  4. Tried to locate FAC files in itunes shared yada yada…nope.
  5. ok, i thought i AM SMARTER THAN THIS §%#“+ machines and opened 25 alteza plugins in AUM, all with the different presets and copied this project over. And….nothing. All of them open just init preset.

WTF?? Me dumb or what is this? 🤪

I‘m about to set EVERY SINGLE VALUE BY HAND NOW if no one can stop me…pls help 🫣

The crowbar solution (not sure if that's a thing in english) could be to wipe the other iPad, and clone your iPad you want the settings from using Bluetooth transfer during setup. It's mind blowing if you've never done that before.

What I don't know is if the cloning over Bluetooth also works from a newer iOS version to an older one.

  • Are you sure that the presets haven't just come across without their names? Have you checked that the knobs and other settings aren't actually there in the presets?

Thanks but cloning is not an option here, just to copy some presets 😂 Lots of different stuff going on on my ipads.

The knob positions did stay always in the same position (of the init preset) no matter what i tried.

I did it the“manual“ way now. The whole story did cost me 3h of my saturday evening. If this is the state of ios music in 2024 then…. 🫠

  • I believe these complications are due to app sandboxing, though some of your attempts should have worked. The "Apple" way to do this would be for the apps to implement export and import of their presets. Now, that might only be possible in the stand-alone implementations, if they're available. And certainly, apps vary widely in their handling of presets.

  • Thinking some more, the trick of loading the presets and saving them as app presets in AUM (folder icon in the app title bar) should have worked. I assume you copied over the correct app preset folder, with the long meaningless name. It sounds to me like the AUM on the second device was not able to access the plug-in data area correctly; that's why the preset in the app never varied from the init. Hard to say why, tho'.
