Audiobus causes BIAS to stop working

Hello there,

Recently bought BIAS and am having nothing but problems with it.

Gear: latest iPad w/Retina display (not Air) running iOS 7 and Alesis IODock II

Upon initially being downloaded it worked fine (after some bizarre and painful feedback issues) but once I tried to use it as an input in Audiobus, with Auria as an output, it caused the app to stop working altogether. It just stays at the Positive Grid screen; restarting the iPad, unplugging the dock... nothing gets it to work again besides deleting the app and reinstalling.

Then I'm faced with the same problem again, the app will work alone until I try using it with Audiobus (it won't work as an input or an effect) and it stops the app from working again. Highly irritated at this point as I'd hoped to actually get some recording done today and not just messing around trying to get things to work!

EDIT: BIAS also seems to crash upon startup, requiring a reinstall, if I save a preset before quitting.

Cheers for any help.

Louis

  • Didn't help I'm afraid. BIAS also seems to stop working, requiring a reinstall, after saving a preset. Royal pain in the bottom.

  • Ok then.

Well... any idea what I could be doing wrong?

    Some ideas:
Do you have the latest Bias update? Also: you could perhaps avoid using Audiobus. In Auria (and in GarageBand) you can use Bias via In App effect. So you can record directly in Auria or GB. Also: Bias can be a bit demanding, so go indeed in airplane mode and close all the apps you don't use, and perhaps search for a memory cleaner (to free up some workspace). I use cMemory, it does the job very good, but the app is not in the app store any more.

According to the Bias site, the Alesis IO Dock is supported, but the Dock 2 is not on the list. Perhaps there is an issue with the Dock 2 , or they just forgot to put it on the list.

Last idea: are you shure you waited long enough after you see the Positive Grid start screen? I mean: some people are too fast in their conclusions and then they mess things up, while to wait just a little longer - and do nothing - could solve the problem.

  • I've done a lot of nothing for half a century! Have I waited long enough?? I still have problems! ;-)

  • I'll have a bourbon and coke then.

@funjunkie: Just wait a few more years, and all your problems will be solved. ;-)

  • That's a long wait for a drink!! ;-)
