AUM mute audio track

Sometimes the simplest things elude me.
I want to mute the audio output of a track whenever ANY key is pressed on an external keyboard or an AUv3 keyboard in AUM.
I don’t really care if the track is muted or there is a gate in its signal chain.
However it must work when any key on the keyboard is pressed.
I understand how I can mute the track with a single note but not with a range of notes or all of the notes.
Thanks

  • You could use a very simple StreamByter script to map any key to e.g. middle C
    This should work

    NX XX = XX 3C

StreamByter is a free (think it’s free) app that sits between the keyboard and the app or in your case AUM

That's not a simple thing. It's a bit unusual. Here's one way to tackle it. Streambyter would work well too, as noted above. Routing for Streambyter would be the same as I show for Midi Messenger.

    • Go get the free Midi Messenger and set it up like this

    • Find the channel mute parameter for the channel you want to control and set it up like this:

    • Add routings from all your controllers, including the internal AUM keyboard and any AUv3 plugins that output midi from their internal keyboards, to Midi Messenger.

    • Route MIDI Messanger output to MIDI Control

This will not mute the channel from the internal keyboard of any AUv3 plugin that doesn't send midi. There's nothing you can do about that.

Are you sure you're not really looking for audio ducking rather than something midi controlled?

  • Thank you very much for your comments. I really thought there might be a simpler way. I am more families with Mozaic and I can write it there.
I really do appreciate your help. 👍🎶❤️

MidiMessanger is free and quicker than writing code, but whatever works best for you. 👍🏼

Perhaps audio ducking will accomplish the same goal in a different manner. I need to learn more about it in any case. I am trying to stop the bassline sequence in Pure Acid when I press a key that will play the bass note corresponding to the note pressed on the keyboard.
This is the way Pure Acid responds to its internal keyboard. I have not been able to accomplish this action with a keyboard external to Pure Acid.

So…using Pure Acid multi outputs I have the sequenced bassline on one AUM channel and the drums on another AUM channel. I have been trying to mute or cut the volume on the bassline sequenced channel when I press any key on my external keyboard.

Hopefully I then can use the same keyboard note to play its note either in another instance of pure acid or a similar note in another app.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Here is a video I made to help explain the action I am trying to emulate.
