Neo-Soul Keys

I'm not familiar with them on PC/Mac but here is there new app being offered for free, so you can try out all the Electric Pianos first then buy them. There are 3 IAP's Suitcase, Wurli, and Stage for $9.99 each and they're going to be adding more in future updates. One cool thing is they claim to be one of the first iOS music apps to feature real-time sample streaming using Apple's Lossless (CAF) format and report to have worked directly with Apple engineers on it. It has a few good reviews so far and one stated its better than iLectric. On the devs website they directly respond to a customer in the comments and state "Audiobus coming in next versions. We have big plans for the effects section, but no phaser in this first version." Also note that its only available for iOS 6.1+ because that's the only version that has the new "CAF streaming" available. It does require a MIDI controller to play and has MIDI Learn but I don't think it has Virtual MIDI.

Neo-Soul Keys on iTunes

I honestly haven't gotten a chance to play with it yet and put it through its paces because I'm at work right now. Would love to hear anyone else's opinion on it...

  • Proberbly the most realistic suitcase piano sim in the world, I used to have a old Fender Rhodes back in the day..very clunky sound..very distinct..This thing sounds more clunky and real than the real thing given that you can actualy control the clunk and dirt on the pick ups..you know that clunk you get when you lift of the keys or when you press a pedal, this thing does all that..very very impressive..at the moment it will work as a standalone or inside Garageband..I'll try that later..but the sound quailty is unreal..

  • It will work by itself?

  • Just downloaded it and love the sounds too! I haven't seen where it works standalone. I've just been using virtual midi, and that's working great.

  • Also, I haven't seen where you can enable caf streaming...and not really sure how I would use it.

I believe the caf streaming automatic meaning thats the samples and velocity layers it plays. Instead of storing massive amounts of samples on your device and taking up space it streams them. What app did you use it with?

  • @funjunkie27 you said you used virtual midi, what app did you use to control it?

  • Using NLog Pro. It stopped working after a while, for some unknown reason, but after a reboot of my iPad its working again.

  • Prob the time limit/trial mode unless you purchased it

  • Maybe. I did purchase the suitcase piano, and it was after that that I noticed it wasn't working, but the reboot fixed it. I haven't tried virt midi with the other two since then, and I'm at work now, so I probably won't be able to until I get home.

  • Sorry, when I said works as a standalone alone I meant for live use with a midi keyboard or as a studio keyboard..
