Question about Audio or MIDI (workflow)
I was wondering what people's workflow is using iOS. On the computer I'm used to doing everything via MIDI with virtual instruments. Now I'm finding out that there are a lot of problems with sync issues in iOS.
One solution I've picked up from this forum is audio copy and paste. It's foreign to me because whenever I used audio, I've always sliced up it up with programs like Recycle and Dr REX in Reason. I would think that without that kind of control things could get messy with timing.
I wanted to ask how people put together songs(workflow) in iOS. Thanks!

I generally don't get too hung up on syncing. I tend to run apps at the same time and just hit play at roughly the right time. Then work out exact syncing when assembling my track later.
I use audiobus and midi to record phrases and loops into Audioshare and then use copy and paste from there. Or is an app records itself (i.e. Figure) then that's even easier.
I use audio copy and paste A LOT .
@Matt Thanks. So I'm getting the idea that iOS is more of an audio rather than MIDI kind of game.
I was wondering however if there is a Recycle/Dr Rex setup in the iOS word. Where the program divides the audio loop into slices and you can play it back using different BPMs.
Also I wanted to ask when you are using Audio copy to record clips and insert them into your DAW, how do you make sure they are the BPM matches with the rest of the song? Has it been your experience that if you record a loop or phrase in one program's BPM, it will sync up properly with the other loop/phrases in your DAW? What I'm trying to do is build a library of and phrases in different programs that I can assemble at a later date. Thanks!
Plenty of people use midi a lot on iOS. It can just be a bit fiddly and I've found unless I'm doing something simple then it slows me down. But that's just me.
I would say that the BPM reported in different apps has always matched other apps / DAWs in my experience (esp when you copy and paste and you're not pushing you ipad with too much running).
Don't think there is anything like recycle / rex on the ipad. Just BM2 and things like Sector. But they are different.
Cool thanks again Matt.
