Workaround: iOS 17.x -> Ableton Link not working over the LAN with some apps.
Is anybody experiencing similar problems:
I am running iOS 17.4 on a 9th gen iPad, and Ableton Link is not working for some apps. I tried both WiFi and wired ethernet:
Xynthesizr, MidiSteps and GrooveRider GR-16 to name a few.
My workaround is to simply run another app that works with Link in the background. This app then acts as a kind of relay station and can talk to both the "local only apps" and the rest of the studio world.
It looks to me as if these apps cannot access the LAN, even with the access to local network permission set.
Comments
Fwiw, network midi being on is causing a lot of random midi issues in iOS 17 (ableton link over Wi-Fi doesn’t need it as far as I know). If one is running an app that turns it in, it might be worth seeing if turning it off solves the issue.
thanks for the suggestion. I will try that one out.
