Very curious how you managed to get good sounds out of Tomofon. I love most of the Klevgrand stuff I have, but despite trying pretty hard, I failed to make interesting patches with this one. I saw quite a few other comments from forum members to that effect too. I don't find the factory presets very inspiring either, mostly, but some of the guest packs had good sounds, so it clearly is possible to make interesting stuff with this synth.

Oh, sorry for that. Is there any example of a “non-interesting” patch or group of patches? Tomofon is a waveform-based synth that is highly dependable on sampling input, maybe you don’t like the overall selection of samples.

I'm in the middle of sampling one local world instrument, and Tomofon is the best I can get for the job. I will send you my full impressions when the job is done, for now, everything is fine.

I know it's dependant on input, yes, read that manual front to back several times and did a lot of experimenting. I tried a lot of stuff that I thought would work but it mostly didn't. Also, most of the Factory stuff is just not really to my taste. I really like so much Klevgrand output, but this one didn't click

  • Skaka is indispensable. And Slammer and Ting I use all the time, but I can see how these might not be useful if you like really clean EDM or techno drums.

Because it was 79¢ I picked up Syndtsphere. It is very limited but that’s its appeal. Though there must be a way in AUM to assign an LFO to allow you to cycle randomly through the patches.

Borsta is also other worldly and I've done some percussion loops with it that are completely stunning. The sound pallet is a bit limiting (as with Ting and Slammer) though.
MIDI out would solve that but is not gonna happen, I've begged them (It was Borsta I asked about) but the answer was a strong: not doable.

Back when I tried it, the patches all had the same nasal sound - distinctly Tomofon. That, plus the complexity and work required for minor results, made for a refund. Also, nobody from the community ever demonstrated any patches to the contrary.

Might go for Pipa though, since it isn’t pretending to be anything else.

Pipa I consider a bit of an overlooked gem.

  • Borsta and Skaka are essential for beatmakers!

  • We’ll call me impressed.
Luxe - I think the technical term is a soundgooderer
Borsta just improved a song I’m working on massively.
Pans - I have other pans/wideners but this one I really like
Ting - something a bit different, works well with other apps.
Korvpressor - just simple, easy to use and hear the difference.

I’ve just bought another 3 on the strength of these.

  • Luxe is perhaps the most subtly awesome make gooderer I’ve ever used.

I finally got Borsta and don’t regret that at all. That with Skaka makes drum tracks very lively. Grabbed Tines too just cos I love ep’s and was pleasantly surprised.

Richter is awesome if anyone is curious about it, I’ve had it since release but it’s a lovely compressor

  • I just picked up Pipa in this lowest price ever. Top quality stuff.

I could not help myself and got OneShot for desktop, what a plugin.

Have Klevgrand said that it will be coming to iOS?

I’m not a BeatMaker and I love them both. Picked up Rum just on the strength of the Klevgrand rep. Hope it’s good.

  • Replying because I did not see anyone mention my favorite…

I have Korvpressor, Grand Finale 2, Fosfat, Skaka, Pipa, Squashit which are all great for their uses but by far I use Speldosa the most. Maybe it’s the type of music I’m making, but the sounds are gorgeous, especially with some tape effect mangling the pitch. I feel like the user interface alone is worth the sale price, it’s very satisfying to run a finger along the tines.

I can see where it’s not for everyone, and if you’re good enough at sound design may be able to make the sound yourself, but I love this plugin.

  • I really like their apps and picked up a couple more on sale. Have most of them now.

Thanks for the app sales Klevgrand!

  • Speldosa is WONDERFUL

    Used it for this

I could always use another make gooderer, currently my go to is Bark Filter, but for $3.19 I’ll give luxe a try!

  • A good combination I found is running Skaka through a resonator/distortion plugin like Combulator. I was able to get some really cool industrial/Trent Reznor like sounds out of it!

  • I can give a big +1 to speldosa.
    And nice track @Fear2Stop

I have several of their apps and Luxe gets the most use. Don’t miss it for this price.

  • Yes lovely track @Fear2Stop.

Another vote here for Speldosa. Only ten pounds for it on desktop too!

  • Speldosa is fantastic. I hope they do some more little instruments like that. This sale has been pretty kick ass too

Revisit this thread - ended with yet another visit to Appstore for bringing Pipa and Speldosa…

KlevGr is such a amazing software house, and, the apps is certainly astonishing and sound really really great!

  • I also use Speldosa in my latest track. It is dancing with Koshiba but i think that the make a cute couple.
