AUM deleting virtual channels?
So got this thinghappening where all of Lumbeat apps are appearing as Virtual, rather than as IAA... why is this happening? Shouldn't they appear as an IAA instrument like all the other IAA apps?
I've tried loading other IAA apps and they appear as they should.

Can you post screenshots demonstrating this? Where are you seeing this in AUM?
I think they mean the virtual midi port that theses apps create by default.
If that is correct, then no, you can’t turn those off in the routing matrix.
If this is where you're referring to, that's normal. Can you provide a screenshot where an IAA app isn't appearing that way?
wim, that is what I am seeing however they USED to show with the the legend IAA. Not virtual. Much like that mood @3 legend is AUDIO UNIT, which is how my AUv3s also display.
A host doesn’t know where virtual MIDI ports come from…unlike AUv3s (since the host contains them). Hosts don’t contain IAA apps.
This change in port identification may just be due to a recent iOS system update. Remember that IAA is deprecated, so related system features may be gradually vanishing. I don't believe it affects the functionality; a MIDI port is just a MIDI port.
I just checked on iOS 15.7. It says Virtual, not IAA there.
If there was a recent change then it would have to have been in the Lumbeats apps, though on the iPad I checked those apps are still at whatever version they were before the beginning of this year.
Anyway, it makes no difference in the operation. There is a difference between IAA and midi clock sync, but that isn't done through the routing matrix.
Ok thanks. Thought I may have been setting up incorrectly.
All g as it turns out, although why AUv3s don't get the same treatment, IE listed as a Virtual is odd, when essentially they are the same, a software instrument.
They're different in terms of how the midi is handled. With an IAA instrument the midi is communicated between two independent standalone apps, and virtual ports is what iOS calls the inputs and outputs that Core MIDI uses. With an AUv3 plugin the data is handled within the host.
You're right that it doesn't make any difference from a user perspective, at least that I can think of. Sometimes developers provide information just because it's available and may be of use to someone, even though for most it's not relevant.
Fair! thanks
