IRig HD2 and adding apps to Autobus3
Hello!
I’m new to this forum. Nice to be here. I
I purchased the Auto bus 3; so I would be able to hear myself play my instrument along with my music. FYI, I am using an iPhone using iOS 16.
For some reason, I can only view a few music apps in my add list. I can’t see listed a lot of music apps I have. Especially, my music app with my playlists on it.
Is there any way to add music apps to the add list in auto bus 3? Thank you 🙏

Hi @raven . This is a bit of a tricky one. Apple places a "firewall" between music player apps and the instruments and effects apps accessed by Audiobus. Presumably this is to prevent wholesale copying of online media. You might be able to capture a song by screen recording it playing, then extracting the audio from the video.
If your music is local files (wav, mp3,etc.) on your device, someone might suggest a way to make them accessible.
If a music app is not an AUv3 plugin, it has to built with Audiobus compatibility for Audiobus to connect to it for Audiobus to see it. It can probably run in parallel to
It though.
Thank you both for the reply.
Could you explain how autobus can run parallel to it.
Interesting that GarageBand doesn’t show up in the available apps. I see the app as compatible on Audiobus web site. 🤷♂️
GarageBand can receive audio from Audiobus. GarageBand does not send audio to other apps.
You can play music from another app and run Audiobus or other music apps at the same time. It sometimes requires going back and forth a couple of times to get it working.
Thank you! But I’m assuming that I won’t have any volume control of the parallel app. I’ll let you know what happens.
Hello! Sorry for the late reply. I just wanted to tell you I was able to get Audiobus 3 working with my iRig HD2 with an app called AudioStretch. Luckily, AudioStretch came up as a compatible device in the select input. I want to mention that AudioStretch isn’t supported for updates anymore. But does the job for hearing background music along with Amplitude. There is a kind of back and forth with AudioStretch that you have to do switching songs. But if you look for the shortcuts on the app, it makes it easier to navigate. Here is the link from IK web site that helped me:

I’m probably going to buy the Boss katana go to solve this problem in the future. But for those who want a less expensive option, this might be what you’re looking for.
