Polaris. New groove box for android phones.

For those of us who live half our lives on the dark side, theres a new pretty good looking android groovebox thing out.

It's a sample/synth based groovebox thing. Looks pretty good and the price is right.

Just purchased it. Working with both worlds I am always happy to see things happening on the Android side. Minimum OS required is 5.0, so it works on older devices.
My only wish is for Ableton Link integration. Sadly not very common on Android. But looking at G-Stomper and Remixlive possible.

I have a galaxy A22 umboxed from work that I might test this with. Seems like a labor of love

  • It does look nice indeed.
Link is planned for the future.

im likely to get this one, i have devices in both camps and have found many cool music making apps exclusive to the android platform (along with a lengthening list if crossplatform stuff.)

it’s interesting, i live in a country where Android rules (not sure why) and i find myself accordingly drawn away from the Apple ecosystem. in part because there are actually more than enough music apps on the platform for me to have enough fun into the next century. its a pre-AB environment (still in an era equivalent to iOS AudioPaste era) but i did a lot when thats all iOS had.

another reason to switch teams is that Android based devices have cameras that are far better than iPhone (at least Samsung’s are)

It’s the reason why I have an android phone, I bought a google pixel 4a5g for 125€ and the camera is totally badass.

a friend showed me some telephoto night shots, (a very telling test case, right?) I was floored.

  • A demo video would be nice. Are there any on the go?

I've made a "getting started" video tutorial of the app:

  • In some ways I wish this would as well come to iOS, but in other ways I think it'd be a cool exclusive for Android users.

  • Hey awesome! Congrats on the release @meteaure
I kind of forgot because I had an older device before
Recall you teasing it back in 2020 if i'm not wrong.

Now with a more powerful phone, it's time to dive in

  • this seems to be a 16 steps only solution?!

Sorry for the late reply. It's 16 steps only for now, but with trig conditions and the step length control, you can make variations that go beyond one bar. I'm currently working on multiple patterns per track with chaining, to expand the possibilities further.
